Played my first armor-only character, and I'm disgusted by it.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well. I usually shrugged it off thinking it was their frenzy charges, but now this discovery is kinda giving me a lot of retrospective 'oh THAT'S why those guys hurt so much' moments.
OP, this is really interesting, thanks for testing. It would also mean that this bug exists since the days that that projectile unique shield was introduced, practicaly forever. If there is such a screw up on something that basic, it raises alot of quetions on how much, even core mechanics of the game, are working as intended.

It's not necessarily been that long. It's plausible that this has to do with the implementation or Juggernaut's double chest armor notable, what with the remarkable similarity in location(only chestpieces, and only base armor and not evasion-to-armor of chestpieces); perhaps in laying the groundwork for that they accidentally forgot to account for this 'armor vs projectiles' stat or made something get in the way of calculating it properly. That would place the start of the bug back in 2.2, with Ascendancy.

Or it could have come into play at some other point for reasons we're not aware of. Hard to say from the perspective of players, really, all we can do is try to connect what few dots we know of. In any case, hopefully these bugs will be fixed in the very near future (especially now that we see it goes beyond the niche of Grand Spectrums and into affecting every armor-chest-using character, which would make it a very wide-reaching high-priority bug).

I think the main thing now will be to try and go forward with armor (after the bug fix) and not judge it on what our experiences with it have been in the past, because who knows how long those experiences have been tainted.

I must say, Armour was good until Atlas. It's still beast for physical damage but there's so many elemental burst damage sources nowadays evasion and acro are pulling far ahead in terms of investment value
Is this why I just died to projectile bosses on my IR HC toon? That's frustrating. I mean, I'll still roll a new dude and all but it's a little irritating to discover.

I just barely couldn't leech fast enough to keep up :(

well... maybe? From my testing, all armor that comes from evasion via IR works against projectiles, including evasion from chestpieces. It's just the original armor from chestpieces that isn't working.

So, if you're using an armor chest, it could have been responsible. If evasion though, nope.

Was using a hybrid. So not as bad as pure armor I guess.

Yeah, I pm'd Mark to to make sure he saw the updated tests.
Your catch probably explains why IR users never complain about armor ever, while pure armor users do despite having similar armor ratings.
