Why make your rewards interesting from the start when you can have a boring grind for useless uniques for the first 6 months?

free to play + catering primarily to "hardcore players" = fail.

it's not even a contested issue, they'll either change things to be a little more of an incentive for casuals now (if they have enough foresight so understand what's going on here) or they'll do it later after they realize they're losing revenue.

see you in 6 months / 1 year and I will be very very surprised if the reward system hasn't changed by then.

I cant say you will be missed and I can promise you game will be doing great
Well I guess it will be the same story as boosting was in CB. Atleast that gives some hope for an improvment in Season 2, let's be optimistic!
P.S. If we make a poll "Are you satisfied/happy/whateva with the current Season 1 reward system?" what u think the results will be? (Rhetorical question)...

yeah thats how I feel too, but if GGG is sticking to this then starting now is the best thing to do even if the current prizes are absolutely terrible!!!!

Never said the game won't be doing great, unless Chris and co suddenly decide to suicide their project. What I said was that the reward system would change sooner rather than later once they realize nobody cares about their limited edition crappy items.

Chris,

Thank you! This means a lot to me. I definitely did not know when I was going to be able to play but this makes it immensely easier.
As someone in the EST time zone in the US, the change helps a little, but I'm now forced to miss (at least parts of) longer races through the week. If it's a one hour race in the earlier slot (4pm for me), I'll miss the entire race, if it's a 3 hour race in the later time slot (10pm for me), I'll need to sleep before the race is over (although I probably won't).

If the earlier time slot in the 2nd week of March is accurate (5pm for me), I'll be able to make virtually all of those events, as I'll be home from work by then.

For the vast majority of the (working class) US East coast, the time slots are still pretty bad.

I want to note that I appreciate the change, it does help!

Seems the best thing they can do is just set up a rotating schedule, that hits almost all the time zones. Run 1hr races every X hours, 2hrs every X hrs and so on, and try to get a schedule hits a majority time zones, while not worrying if theres event overlap between events of different lengths. At least using this method, everyone should be able to hit a reasonable number of events over the course of a ladder season, opposed to trying to cater specifically to certain time zones.
