Lab is so bad #3

Just discovered how GGG has booby-trapped town portals in the Lab with a concern-trolling "Are You Sure?" dialog box, just to give Izaro another couple seconds to nail you. That does it, I was on the fence before, but to hell with the Lab and all its passive-aggressive bullshit.

Yep, that's just there to troll hardcore players, not to prevent sleepy people, inattentive folks, or new players from leaving to sell loot/trade without realizing/remembering they can't re-enter it.

I swear, some people think everything about the Lab is out to get them specifically.

At the bottom left is a timed switch, which takes only a few seconds to reset. At the top right is a pair of locked doors which block access to switches above and to the right. Just below the locked doors is a switch that opens neither.

The timed switch must open one of the two locked doors, but there's nowhere near enough time to run back before they close again. And of course there are unavoidable nail thrusters in the floor which will eventually drain your flasks. Just another broken waste of time.

My problem with Lab is STILL that you can't return to a saved instance if you die, dc, log, leave to trade, what have you. The rest of the content ingame has saved instances, even boss fights. Uber lab should at least have six portals like any other keyed content (Atziri, Council).

At the very least, it should give the option to respawn at the last checkpoint (SC) like the rest of boss fights, without having to go through the entire Lab again.

This has been explained before why it is not a portal based fight or multiple tries resuming progression.

The issue with portals is that it allows people to come in at the end and get extra enchants\loot from boxes and overall cheese the content more then is currently allowed.

The issue with resuming a previous run is that the lab is designed to be done in one swoop, being allowed to restart from a position allows for again, cheese mechanics like extreme pot spamming and stuff like that.

In terms of respawning at the boss fights, that change was terrible in SC, it encourages the whole zerg the boss until you complete it, instead of building a stronger character to progress past that challenge. Personally, I'd remove that option completely, but that isn't going to happen.

Thats pretty true from my experience. Since I exclusively play hardcore, I always get a rush if I kill Malachai on normal or cruel. I can't imagine softcore being a similar experience with people just dying 20-30 times on Malachai and cheese it that way lol.
I personally find labyrinth on merciless great. Prior difficulties feel missplaced. You need to run those 6 trials first and usually when you come back to labyrinth you're already quite a bit overlevelled. At least merciless remains somewhat challenging.

I'd say lab is fine in terms of difficulty. Izaro on merciless feels easier than Malachai merciless, though hes def a bit up from merciless kaom / Daresso.

EDIT:

The content is great and feels fun and engaging especially on merciless. The implementation on lower difficulties leaves much to be desired though. It just always feels off to do labyrinth on lower difficulties and it feels that it hinders levelling up. It should be shorter and easier to access on lower difficulties.

Btw this is just coming from someone who did merciless Izaro for the first time. I'm not sure if it is rewarding enough to players overall, the initial ascendancy points make it always worth it to run at least once but beyond that I'm not really sure with the enchants.

You might want to get a good Glove and Boot enchant... the helmets... I honestly don't even try anymore. And yeah exspecially normal feels displaced, not even because of the difficulty it is manageable with some builds but a lot of builds simply lack tools, you might not even have all your supports (no Spellecho/Multistrike). I would cut it down to only one Izaro fight and Cruel to two, instead of the 3 we have now. This would mean no mechanics in the fight for normal (since it is only the last fight) and only one mechanic in cruel.

Or the are you sure is there because people were not aware they couldn't leave and re-enter the lab with the same port.

If you are to the point where you are wanting to portal out and aren't able to do the challenge, might as well exit to the login screen. IIRC there was a point which it didn't have the "are you sure" and people were either trolling or unaware of the fact you cannot re-enter the same lab instance.

Did you submit a bug report? Why only the one screen shot, if I had to guess it was not bugged you simply don't know how to progress past it.

Yeah, Goetzjam. There's no way that it could be a bug. PoE is perfect. Clearly the guy must be doing something wrong.

Didn't you read? He explained exactly how the instance is goofed. The labyrinth and game in general is full of crap like this.

He explained why he thought it wasn't possible to pass thru it, but provided very little information in terms of screen shots, as they say the proof is in the pictures and this picture doesn't tell the story.

It's unheard of that levers don't do what you think they're going to do. I've never clicked a lever that opened/closed a different door than I was expecting. /s

I have to lean towards believing that it wasn't bugged as well. There are people who run the lab a lot. You would think that one of these lab runners would have encountered a bugged layout and reported it. Especially since that's their "thing" and bugs preventing it would really piss off somebody who made a character for that purpose. But I haven't seen any bug reports about it.
