Particle Effect Optimisations in 2.4.0

In case anyone wants to know...

CPUs with AVX

Intel
Sandy Bridge processor, Q1 2011[9]
Sandy Bridge E processor, Q4 2011[10]
Ivy Bridge processor, Q1 2012
Ivy Bridge E processor, Q3 2013
Haswell processor, Q2 2013
Haswell E processor, Q3 2014
Broadwell processor, Q4 2014
Broadwell E processor, Q2 2016
Skylake processor, Q3 2015
Kaby Lake processor, expected in 2016
Cannonlake processor, expected in 2017

Note: Not all CPUs from the listed families support AVX. Generally, CPUs with the commercial denomination "Core i3/i5/i7" support them, whereas "Pentium" and "Celeron" CPUs don't.

AMD:
Bulldozer-based processor, Q4 2011[11]
Piledriver-based processor, Q4 2012[12]
Steamroller-based processor, Q1 2014
Excavator-based processor, expected in 2015
Jaguar-based processor
Puma-based processor

Issues regarding compatibility between future Intel and AMD processors are discussed under XOP instruction set.
Well I hope it does make the game run smoother. One thing that always gets my goat is just how shit the game runs at times.... and by that I mean often.
good job GGG, keep going!
Chris, time to give Vincent a raise me thinks.

In all seriousness, if you're showing comparison slides like this one, I take it you're very confident in the work done. I just hope it's not another instance of a video game company making promises they can't keep. But then again, I have faith in you GGG, whereas I've lost faith with pretty much all the other video game companies out there bare a few.

Edit:

@MakeWebSocketsGreatAgain: why would people even give any credit to what you say when you're posting with an account that's barely a month old, with 0 characters on it, clearly made in an attempt to "anonymize" yourself on the forums? Really, man up and post with your real account or just gtfo.

Someone on the reddit thread about this topic, has provided the link to this neat little program.

An easy way to check the AVX or SSE2 stuff with it.

How would one go about checking if their CPU is AVX or SSE2 ?
Check your CPU in Device Manager and then check its spec on manufacturer's website under Features/Instruction/Instruction Set Extensions or just google it.

I also get the drops during high activity moments, and was hoping someone reading this
thread could inform me which of these is a likely culprit, as I lack on the technical side.
