Race Event Season One announced!

This is the first time GGG regresses instead of stepping forward on the road of fun and innovation
ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it
So I understand that picking times that would work for people around the world is a difficult thing. But let me show you what I see:

Im in CST USA. these are the time slots
5:00 AM (driving to work)
11:00 AM (At work)
3:00 PM (driving home from work)
11:00 PM (in bed because i work early)

Ok, so maybe i am an old man, or have too much responsibility at work, but it would be nice if you threw players like me a bone and maybe during at least 1 week of the season give us a race that we can actually play? the first three races are during work hours and the last one is when i would be sleeping (so i can get up in time for work) I know I'm not "the hardcore player" but i would love to be, i just cant quit my job to make that a reality. That being said my request is simple.

Give USA at least 1 5 pm -7 pm start time during the week at least once during the season. If you did a race at 5:30 PST it would be 7:30 CST and 8:30 EST that would cover the evening for all of the USA players.

Why cant 1 race slot be focused on USA players that have standard responsibilities?
No races for the players on Scrubcore? How come?

These races were really fun in closed beta, it's more of a social event unless you go hardcore mode to win it

Those races were really fun and "a social event" in closed beta because tons of people participated because there was a goody bag at the end of each race. With the current system only the nolifers and a few "limited edition" collector types will even care to participate.

I'm not a nolifer and i'm also not a "limited edition" collector type. I will however still participate in season 1 races as will my friends who play PoE with me.

It makes you look a little bit silly to just pull these amazing 'facts' out of thin air and then wedge them into your opinion.

Go ahead and speak for yourself by all means, but please do not attempt to speak for everyone else as you are in no position to do so with any amount of accuracy or credibility.
I stream daily at twitch.tv/CellTank
The only real problem I have with this event is that they are all races. I'm not much of a speedrunner, and it seems that those who have figured the most optimal setup will be the ones who will be dominating the scoreboard.

I just hope that they'll add different types of events that have little to do with speed, but I can see how that'll be a problem. There isn't many ways to determine a winner in these types of games (or maybe I suck at coming up with ideas).

Hopefully, if that's really the case, they'll add some sort of way to have maximum player servers for events, so that mid-tier players or suchandsuch you want to call them have a chance for winning these events.

But hey, it's the first event. We'll see what happens and go on from there.

As a side note, this post is contradictory to my signature.
Play for fun, not for dominance.
They could reward currency, but they'd HAVE to remove level thresholds as part of the currency rewards, or just limit those thresholds to very elite levels. There are going to be so many people competing in these races handing out 20 orbs just because you got to level 20 in a 2 hour race would be STUPID. They figured this out and learned from it.

If you don't like the rewards, shut up and don't race! They'll figure out pretty quickly that they borked up the rewards and they'll adjust it properly for season 2. Instead, you're all complaining and we all know 95%+ of you complaining (about race rewards) will STILL be participating in plenty of races.

Do you guys really think slapping an new icon on bad uniques is going to make people want them? I really can't deem these prizes a good idea. You could have at least given them a unique animation or model in game instead of copping out with icons. This doesn't even come close to comparing to the demis given out in CB, very very disappointing.

You do realize if you win a race you get a unique helm, similar to demigod's amulet, right?

What they should have done reward wise is those that reach level 10-19 the reward is 1-3 random orbs then level 20-29 3-6 random orbs capped out at chaos orb and anyone level 30+ 1 random boss map out of pool of boss mobs that player killed during the race.
Luke: Sorry we have to leave you here, but it just ain't right to eat your wife's and daughter's brains. Plus you're really disgusting and I don't want to spend anymore time with you.

Sounds like fun, but adults like myself are just doomed to lose. Work does not permit 20 hour game sessions.

Not to mention people can just share accounts and level up once character like mad.

I like the idea of these events, but sadly no matter what they try to do "cheaters/exploiters" will triumph.

There are plenty of 1-4 hour races. Getting the lowest tier level gives 3 points. 15 points for the lowest prize. This amounts to 5 hours over 7 weeks.

That is 42 minutes of player per week. Or 1 hour for 5 out of 7 weeks.
Where are you coming up with 20 hour game sessions?

Other than the week events, it is not possible to play races for 20 straight hours. Points for being dramatic though.
