What would be nice to have with the Race prizes is to have a separate race stash for each player. However, this stash would work much like the microtransaction stash in that:

- It would be accessible from all leagues
- You would be unable to trade or move items from the race stash to a normal stash or inventory space (you can equip race stash items, but unequipping them just takes them back to the stash)

Then currency prizes would not affect the economy as much (if at all), as they can't be traded, but they are still desired as they can still be used as free currency to upgrade your char's gear.
Also people who collect a large amount of unique race items would have somewhere dedicated to store them, which prevents them from needing more stash tabs as these prizes crowd out everything else.

It would also be nice to allow these items to be duped between your characters as well, so you don't need to unequip them from one char before getting the unique art on another char, but this is not essential.

But I suppose it depends on the philosophy behind the prizes and whether GGG wants to identify race winners or just give item/game wealth incentives to players that run races.

If that's true I had no idea. The reason for doing that, were it possible, would be to make an amazing rare item(with special artwork), since uniques are meant to be unique, and not necessarily the most powerful items.
"Why would it make the art go away"? I don't know, sometimes crazy stuff happens that you don't expect, that's why I'm asking. :)

Sadly, I think I will sit this one out. The prizes are really unappealing considering the amount of races I would have to play to rack up the points for the gear.

It doesn't seem worth it to me but good luck to everyone else who does participate.

As many have pointed out here and in game, this setup is a joke, and shows a clear lack in understanding on how the games economy works by the devs. Sadly it doesn't really surprise me.

I'm seeing the beginnings of a trend since OB launched where Chris continues to prove that hes stuck in the past and very out of touch with todays gamers. I wonder how many more times he will make bad choices that hes then forced to change because the community informs him of something blatantly obvious to any real gamer that he somehow doesn't see.

ok i just tested it out and you can't use a scouring orb on a unique so that will not work

what happens if one were to craft a coral amulet of out of that ring? would that ammy have alternate art too?
