Race Event Season One announced!
" This was the first post that made a good argument for why currency should remain a reward. This makes complete sense, and is completely true. I don't think currency from races is going to ruin the economy, and if it is, you can just scale back on how much currency you get from a race.....much simpler solution. If I am not going to compete at the top of the ladder, it would be nice to get a little something each race for competing. This would also be great for those that can't put in the time and effort it takes to get the higher season rewards. It doesnt have to be much, just a little something. That said, I actually do like the idea of getting rewards that are unique like this for extended play in seasons. Get a little something each race, then keep the additional rewards for continued success in the season. I would maybe even make the rewards early on a little harder to get. As pointed out in other posts, it only take 3-4 hours a week to get 3 season rewards. Maybe something like 15, 40, 100, 200 etc. Would be awesome to be able to "spend" the leftover rewards as well. If I hit say 120 points a few weeks in, and realize I can't reach 240....I will have no reward at all for racing. the jump from 120.....to 240 is a long time with no reward. My only recommendation for the rewards, is to offer more than 1 reward per tier, with the choices taylored to different playstyles. Some of the rewards will never be used by your characters, and it kind of defeats the point. A simple example is 3 rings, 1 based in each of the 3 main types (str/dex/int). A reward like wanderlust is perfect though, any build can benefit it, and it is useful for leveling. That is a good reward. Of course, I really like just racing to race as well......and don't really care how small the reward is, I just want to feel like each race gives me a little something. If I am only getting 2-5 points a race (which is very realistic for most players) going from 60-120 would require 12 races.....that doesnt feel so good. Even something as small as a random gem, random currency, random Ilvl rare for 5-10 RP would feel great. Last edited by Litheum#7285 on Feb 20, 2013, 5:53:33 PM

" The currency items were not a guaranteed "rare and valuable" win. They were random currency items and they were designed that the lower value items were more likely to be awarded than the higher currency items. Part of the fun was seeing what you had got at the end of a race if you were still alive and survived far enough to be awarded any form of prize. The only reward that was guaranteed and known what it was beforehand was the Demigods amulet. Last edited by Jaknet#1426 on Feb 20, 2013, 5:49:50 PM

Why are people saying if there where orb rewards it would wreak the economy. THERE IS NO ECONOMY IN THE GAME YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And there are people with over 100 exalt worth of stuff so that right there means the so called economy is wreaked.

" Yah, completely agree here. I was thinking a random gem, or a random Ilvl item. Most times would not be good....but gives you that feeling of reward for your time, and that classic RNG feeling I love about ARPGs. Sad to say, but this tiered system feels a little too much like another Game Company (which will remane unnamed) design, grindy, tiered, little to no RNG....Not Fun. Random is a very powerful reward. Knowing 95% of the time the gem will suck.......but maybe, just maybe, 20% freeze pulse??!! Last edited by Litheum#7285 on Feb 20, 2013, 5:59:22 PM

Has anyone here posted the unique item rewards for the season?
When I look at the announcement, I can't see three of the rewards. They are covered by text, and I can't mouse over them. If anyone has posted them here, I'd love a link! Thanks. |

Still no dev response. Do they realize how many unhappy players there are. Ones that can't do a single race during the week because of poor race scheduling.

Sorry but I am confused as to what the problem is here regarding the currency rewards thing?
I agree that they shouldn't be offered as a reward, if I wanted currency items as a reward I would just play the game normally and spend the time I would be 'racing' to earning the in-game currencies. But, again, I also agree that it can't be something 'too' grand (like a unique pet for example) as then everyone will feel that they 'have' to play in the race. Now, I never took part in the closed beta races, something I am interested in, but was something I wanted to play about with when the game no longer had character wipes. To my understanding the race is lvl 1, you start a new character and select the race league as the game type. To which, when the race is over, your character and progress is then deleted. So, the earlier argument about currency items being rewarded because it 'costs' currency is a mute point. Considering you don't take any of those items across. I like the rewards as they are, rares with unique art. Rares imo are a form of currency as well as people tend to trade rare equipment. I like new art and item sets, so this is ideal for me. |

I will give some of these a shot. Might actually win something, and if not, well it'll be practice.
Grant us eyes.

first off i like the new system but hate the rewards, yes the art is nice but really who gives a shit about the same crappy item that has a different look to it and that look isn't even a in-game look.
Now what would be awesome and rewarding is having the rewarded uniques be new and not in the general game so that you can only get them form playing the races, and have them come with new and unique microtransactons on them as well, then it would most certainly bring up the bragging rights factor to new heights.
