With this system there is little reward for participating in races for about 90% of the players. Not only is there no currency reward, but you would have to play more than 5 races a week to even have a chance of earning the medium to top prizes. This is impossible for people that have jobs/school. As someone else mentioned, this also removes the incentive for people to race mid-season after they see that they won't be able to earn the next reward in time.

Hmm, I think you may be wrong here.

Season prizes tier at:
15
30
60
120
240
480

You can get 3 points for reaching fairly easy thresholds as follows:
1 hr race: Level 13
2 hr race: Level 16
3 hr race: Level 20

I played my first race ever, died at level 3, and still made it to level 11. I am confident I can make all of these thresholds.

It would only take 5 races to get a reward. Even if you only ran 1-2 races a week, you'd end up with at least 42 points. (7 weeks, 2 races per week, 3 points per race = 42 points)

And as Chris said, rewards scale with time invested.
Not sure where you came up with 5 events per week for any reward?

And as short as the races are, this only amounts to 3-8 hours a week of play.....less if you focus on the 2hr and under races.

Ok almost 30 pages...where are the devs?
Ugh, how do i link this calendar to my google calendar?!
I <3 it
Playing since 0.9.2g
I feel each race needs more tangible, short-term rewards. I'm wondering if the participation will actually be lower this time around. I don't have concrete numbers but the calibration races, meant for testing with no rewards, had less players participate in an open beta environment than the average race in closed beta with tangible rewards for each race, and now we have easily over 35 times the number of concurrent players. It seems to show that unless there's tangible rewards for casual players participation will plummet.

I agree with the removal of the Hillock reward.

I hope I'm wrong with this, but I'm fearing these issues will take a long time to be addressed, if at all. Many of the requests related to the race design (outside of the new prize system) have been made time and time again for months during closed beta, and the only improvement so far is that trading is finally fully disabled in solo races (good job on that at least). I feel that for open beta GGG needs to step it up sooner than later.

Thinking of another system that worked really well in CB that they're going to completely scrap.

I guess they haven't heard the saying "if it's not broken don't fix it"

Oh and before some retard chimes in with the currency transferring to default leagues and OMG BREAKING THE ECUNUMY, what's broken is that there aren't any real item sinks. The economy WILL be "broken" regardless as time passes. You aren't fixing shit by removing race currency rewards. Just making racing less interesting for 90% of the playerbase who enjoys unwrapping a gift at the end.

outside kicking puppies and kittens because of all the poor responses.
Luke: Sorry we have to leave you here, but it just ain't right to eat your wife's and daughter's brains. Plus you're really disgusting and I don't want to spend anymore time with you.
Im sorry, but those rewards are just bad. A white ring that drops all the the time? For unique artwork? Some of those uniques are ones that I can hardly give away. At the least, the rewards should of been some of the better uniques out there. There is not one item in there that would make me want to participate in multiple events.

At least if it was orbs i would do a few of them. I don't think even orbs are enough to make these feel manditory, but at least i would feel like I was getting something out of the deal. And if you say, the rewards aren't the point, well I have to disagree. The entire point of an arpg is the rewards. Whether that be an item, or your next level which lets you keep the build going, its all a carrot on a stick. And there is just no carrot for these events.

Its not that big of a deal to me, cause even if the rewards were AMAZING, i still wouldn't do that many(for me, arpg are all about my main characters and improving them, and I bounce back and forth between multiple characters), but as it stands, I will be doing none.
