Hello Path of Exile players

An interesting idea but sounds like entirelly too much work for me. I like PoE and GGG but I don't intend to give hours of my precious time to do something they should be doing.
You have to be realistic about these things.

It's fine, we probably wasted more on pointless feedback and suggestions than never had the slightest chance of seeing the light of day. Besides, it isn't their job to determine if Chris was just tossing some wool on us with that vocal majority thingy :)

I'll test the waters and see if I can't find a few people that are genuinely interested in unraveling the mysteries of modern advertising and public relations.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Certainly, but I don't feel I must do it, so it's not work. What's more, I usually post while I'm at work so I have additional motivation to do it. Undertaking a serious, coordinated project to do something worthwhile?

I shudder at the thought.

When I said it's their job, I meant surveying the community's opinions on various aspects of the game. It's obvious to me they should be doing it and I'm baffled why they aren't. Actually, no game I've played does this, which makes no sense to me. They should have daily polls in the main menu. Not saying the community's opinion is the word of God and must be obeyed at any cost, but it would certainly provide valuable information. I mean, companies which sell fucking washing powder do this, and their product is infinitely more simple and straightforward than a pc game.

Well, this isn't a fence I absolutely have to paint so it isn't really work either, people do much more for the sake of satisfying their curiosity, and I'm no cat so it most likely won't do any permanent harm :)

What I wanted to say with that is that it a poll like that could be a conflict of interests and potentially harmful at this point. I've played some online games that had polls, 'how did you like the new levels', 'would you like to see tag tam pvp permanently in the game' and stuff like that. Of course, you don't want to ask things like 'was crafting a +10 weapon easy enough' because few will answer that one honestly, I suppose it's the same as asking 'is our detergent too expensive'.

Good news, I heard the next raid boss will have six.

Oh, I see - in a simple 'do you like the lab or not' poll with thousands of answers we have to subject everything to exacting statistical analysis and scrutiny with such lofty standards as if the fate of the world depends on the answer. If the company is polling the players, however, they are going to ask leading questions! Double standards? :P

I wish you all the best with Tom Sawyering the community though. I'm genuinely interested in the results, partly because I'm convinced they will confirm what I've been saying (the majority dislikes the lab). We'll have expert sociologists and mathematicians disputing the results once again, of course, but it will be fun to have another stick to poke them with.

Now that I think about it, if someone is doing a survey like that, you have to be absolutely convinced they can be trusted. If someone like sexcalibure or tinfoil is running it, you may get... interesting results :D

It's amazing how the community can find a way to turn tits into lab.

I suggest a compromise, keep lab and give me my globe girls back.
(this suggestion is entirely unbiased i'll have you know)

Peace,

ahh... globe girls or lab, the dilemma, the impossible choice, the pain...

Time to edit signature again.

This aside, we're indirectly answering Manocean: any game which provokes so much emotion and lively disagreement between the players is alive and well. The day I'll be worried is the day I browse the forums and people aren't at each others' throats for a variety ot topics. You know what happens to truly bad games? People don't care. People don't talk about them. They just leave and never look back.

This should be simple enough, I think, 'how do you feel about the lab' with standard five answers is as clear-cut as can be. There are games that have polls but there are things it's a waste of time asking because you know in advance people won't answer honestly.

My money is on 'somewhat dislike', by the way.

I don't think there will be much room for manipulation if we can get people that are mostly indifferent about the result. I expect all 20 contributions will be fairly similar and the streamed ones will be public, it would be easy to spot the rotten egg in the bunch and we might get a few extra people on the job so we can discard the few submissions with edge case data. About the person compiling the results, if everyone posts their findings publicly or on stream he can do jack shit about them.
