[2.6] The Curse Whisperer - Tri-Curse CI Whispering Ice Elementalist - Viable for Everything
Hi kelv, I think we can improve the skill tree a little bit. Since we no longer need deep thoughts. We can drop the four int points under deep thoughts and grab the str point under elemental overload. In this case, we lost 40 int, got 3 free points and 10 str. So we can finish our skill tree 3 levels earlier. And we can always use the 3 points to get something better than 40 int. Such as 3 points the way to trickery(30 int, 10 dex, 20 damage) Am I right?

" even on an 80-89 char, a nonshaped mesa shouldnt take you more than 3 minutes. being that slow (either because of a lack of damage, or playing too slow, picking up too much stuff that you shouldnt, and so on) explains why you struggle with ignites. |

" I'll try to speed up my play and loot less. Thanks for the advice! |

I am really loving this build so far, though i dont have enough currency to buy a decent chest/belt, i still have 7k es, and the dps is insane. Doing uber lab and tier 15 has never been so easy on any build i had. Best build i've made so far.
Got a question though, the guide says having a second staff for bosses with culling strike, atm i have a 5l staff, i wonder why he only has the 5l for the bosses, and he uses a 2x3l for mobs? Wouldnt it be better to have life leech and other supports also connected to scorching ray? Having 2x 5l staffs would also work right? |

So i am lvl 51 right now and freezemelting through the campaign, great...and fun!
but i wonder how the tooltip damage is calculated. to me it seems that it doesn't show the ice damage per int. in path of builing it shows 1.1k avg dmg, but the icestorm tooltip only shows 630 avg dmg, so almost 50% less. am i right that something isn't calculated in the tooltip or am i missing something? Anyone having crashing problems where it pops up a dialog box with an error message (forgot what it says) using this build? I had to dump scorching ray and CwC to get stability back. It's not my PC as I'm running a monster of a rig with a water cooled GTX1080. Other posts have also mentioned issues with crashes from the combo of SR and WI. I'm wondering if the server is having an issue making all the necessary calculations or it's the fact that I play in windowed full screen.
Thoughts? The build is otherwise decent as long as you can farm the necessary currency to max resists, ES and intelligence which is tough in a new league and competing with HOWA builds. |

I used the build last league, playing it was fun! I came to say thanks especially for the effort you put into detailed leveling guide, it made things much easier and leveling much more pleasant!

Does this build work without sco. ray and cast while channeling ? like manually cast the icestorm ?
Or is it way worse ? Last edited by Ziakah#2221 on Apr 6, 2017, 8:07:00 PM

I'm really enjoying this build -- first time I've stuck with something into maps. I'm 86 with 1421 int and 5.3k ES (in HO with buffs on). I'm plodding through maps, have a done few T12s but mostly doing T9s and T10s and not having too many issues other than stupid one shot deaths or not paying attention to things. This is the first time I've reached maps so I don't know what to expect really -- should i buy higher maps, upgrade my gear to prepare for higher maps or do uber labs (haven't done that yet -- don't know if ready)
If I should be upgrading gear -- I'm trying to figure out the best place to target item upgrades. I'm not wearing my perandus signet as it only gives me a few more int and drops my fire resist below cap. Clearly I can upgrade my belt but will a 1ex belt be a bang for the buck?? My chest is at 500 ES but good int. Will getting a 700ish chest for a +200 es item upgrade be a good 1ex+ investment and/or make a big difference? I just don't know if spending cash to upgrade those pieces is worth it or if i should spend it on quality gems. I know I've asked a ton of question here so any advise would be appreciated. Thanks. (I think my profile is public -- yell if not) |

" I used SR / CwC with the intention of replacing them with ele focus and spell echo once my damage and ES was high enough to not have to worry about mana. Just about the time I was ready to switch, I ran into crashing problems which forced me to drop SR anyway. No crashes since. You will do more dmg self casting, but you just can't spam it all the time. Overall the build is solid, but doesn't come close to my golem build in ease of survivability and clear speed. There are way too many map mod combos that will result in you getting one shot even if you have 15k ES. By being forced to stop to cast AND be close enough to leech creates a flaw in the design. With golem and totem builds, you are free to focus entirely on making sure you don't get in range of being one shot. Side note: SR does have an advantage over self cast when it comes to shielded mobs/traps. |
