[2.6] The Curse Whisperer - Tri-Curse CI Whispering Ice Elementalist - Viable for Everything
" Always start with the regalia. It's the hardest to get and the most expensive. Then craft a belt. And then look at your resists and find boots and gloves to cap them. |
|
" You seem to be missing 2 or 3 skill points somewhere. At lv 89 you should already have the Witch area socket and Catalyse and be on your way to the Shadow area socket. Check your quests (U), make sure you didn't skip any quests that give skill points (see the start of the Leveling Guide), and that you did the Bandits correctly too (see Bandits). Your boots have only 22 Int. But your other items are excellent. You want to upgrade the boots eventually, but that's not the reason your damage is low. Izaro's Turmoil with 42 value could use upgrading. For some reason, Izaro's are still pretty expensive in this league. I found better rares for cheaper myself, and they are ones with Int too. Check poe.trade. So what is your damage? It shouldn't be 'extremely low' with that gear. A little lower than mine, but not much. What's your Int and Icestorm tooltip? Maybe you are just forgetting to pop Orb of Storms? It lasts only 8.7 sec now after the duration nerf in 2.6. But you should always pop it every 10 sec to keep Mastermind of Discord going anyway. Remember to Fortify too. It's very easy to keep Fortify up all the time now with VS (see the update above). Or maybe your no-speed boots are getting you in trouble. If you walk to the Minotaur slowly, he may decide to use his Burrow attack and 1-shot you if you don't dodge it. The Shaper is also harder without speed, and if you bring Quicksilver flasks to him you sacrifice some other more useful flasks for it. Last edited by Kelvynn#6607 on Mar 17, 2017, 7:37:52 PM

" You are lv 83 and it looks like you've skipped something in the tree (I see Coldhearted Calculation missng, but there must be something else too). I would recommend finishing the basic lv 85 tree before going for anything endgame. Your gear is fine for the normal Atziri and Uber Lab, IF the resists are maxed (or at least close to max). But the gems need to be higher level (at least 19). I'd say level to 87 and by then your gems will also be good. |

" Cold damage cannot be converted to lightning (see the wiki). There is an Ascendancy option to shock even with fire damage, but that would require sacrificing something far more useful. There is no need to shock trash mobs, they already die super fast. Most endgame bosses cannot be shocked. EE is triggered by the damaging hits, it doesn't care what you used to produce the hit. Our Icestorm produces 10 fire hits per second per storm. Everything would instantly become 25% more resistant to fire. " It requires self-casting and says so in the description of the skill. Kelvynn, thank you for awesome build.
Lvl 92 1723 Int 8600 ES 6738 Dps in hideout with 2 golems Gear: After 88 i took socket near Whispers of Doom with Brute force solution, and still need to replace one rare jewel with Turmoil. Just killed corrupted Chimera with vulnerability mapmod, without right defensive flasks - 4 death in 1rst fog stage, all my own mistakes. The Wise Oak flask gives very big boost to dmg - Uber Izaro(last stage) died in 3 secs, T15 kaom dead in ~4 sec, I facetank Rigwald(Dark Forest Map) during all his attack phases. And its not hard to make fire resist higest. With 3 auras (95% reserved mana) I had problem with golems in fights. Sometimes they both doesnt pop up, or just one of them. After lvl 84-85 this problem gone. Right now I have 83 mana free, and mana regen much higher than SR cost. This build very forgiving for my mistakes, fun to play and easy for leveling. " Dat glove! :-O You have a perfect Astra. Bless the implicit to 16. Craft a belt with 2 res mods. That will let you find better boots and/or replace the crafted res on the chest with +All. Non-gear notes:
Spoiler
Swap CD for CE. After the AoE changed CE's radius is not tiny anymore. Or at least EF for map clearing.
What's with the Lightning Golem in the SR-CwC setup? Ice would give you 40% increased damage. No Fortify can hurt in T16, especially with mods. Even if you hate Leap Slam, VS is pretty good now. IMO a little more ES with Empower is not worth losing AA. Low level CWDT-IC is useless. It's wasted on tiny hits (and wastes endurance charges with it) and isn't there when you really need it. And it's too short duration. Lv 20 CWDT-IC with charges is awesome. " One of your golems was probably higher level than CWDT. Looks like you leveled them to 20, then vendored for 20q and re-leveled. That's the way to do it, but you need them to be the same level as CWDT or lower. Check out the newly improved Vigilant Strike (instead of Fortify; see the update above). So I'm having a hard time getting all my resists to 75% if i get the perandus signet. Do you think it's better to go with a rare ring with 45 int and get my resists to 75 (and use basalt flask for physical), or should I use perandus signet and the wise oak flask for my resists?

Message to GGG: please nerf HOWA in 3.0 so our Int ES gear is cheap again in trade.
It's interesting how the appreciation of the game is somewhat dependent on currency. In Breach, exalted orbs dropped left and right for me, I got an Astramentis on day 2, I could 6-socket gear in 50 orbs, and my spite crafting worked great. So I had lots of fun and got up to 92 fairly quickly with T16-level gear. In this league, I've found zero items worth more than 4 chaos, I'm still using a rare amulet, spite crafting is failing miserably (nothing good after 30+ tries), and zero 6-sockets in hundreds of orbs. And I can't wait for 3.0... Last edited by Graiaule#7461 on Mar 17, 2017, 9:00:16 PM

i read a few pages of this thread and havnt seen my question. at the start of the tree you go around the spell damage and take the int nodes. why is that wouldnt you get more spell damage off the nodes that the 20 or 30 int?
