This Game is not for me, Leaving Feedback/Leaving Game

A few years back when i startet with this awesome game, i had some of the exact same problems. I was lucky however, a friend of mine was already fairly familiar with the game and its mechanics, so anytime i had questions i could ask him. Had this not been the case, i don't know if i would have continued playing this game for such a long time. This is not an easy accessible game for beginners, even if you are familiar with the genre. In POE, knowledge is everything, but it is incredibly hard and frustrating figuring out everything on ones own. Not many people like to be constantly frustrated while learning to play. Not many people like to gain knowledge elsewhere before starting to actually play. I already said that many years ago: POE needs an extensive ingame tutorial for new players. A good tutorial should have been made long ago. I believe the player-base would be a lot bigger nowadays. Because once you really know what you are doing, this game is the best ARPG ever made. At least for me.
Thank you guys SO SO MUCH for hearing me out. I'm glad I've left honest and sincere opinions that count, even if only a little. I happen to agree quite a bit with you folks.

In response to innervation, indeed, I retract the opinion that only Path of Exile has a prominent player-base. More-so, I was differentiating that due to a more active in-game chat in path of exile, that's where you'd see it potentially more often.
Because of that, hopefully, Grinding Gears will persist in preventing acidic behavior as we report it.

Thank you, Perq, for taking the time to re-read and understand what I was conveying, I apologize for the probably confusing mess my post was and I apologize, it was in no way my intent to cause any misunderstanding.

I agree, it's probably better I stick with what I most enjoy, thus I'm (again) just thinking of sticking to Diablo 3.

In terms of finding games in a broad variety of genres, I just started playing a champion in League of Legends that I bought due to its high armor/magic resist rating, Rammus, and found a kick-butt item combo that's winning me games. That's been fun. Even more fun when I had epiphanies as to how it must have felt like for my opponents to fight me. Rofl.

Long story short, I've at least needed a break from Path of Exile for a bit.

For another reply to innervation, I honestly don't know if I could stick around in Path of Exile. Diablo 2 and Path of Exile (in my opinion) seem to have similar punishing mechanics where a set of mistakes could be irreversible and also impact your capability of using a character to the fullest extent; that's something I believe we agree on? Of course, I do think Grinding Gears saw this and certainly took into consideration a few ways to counteract that issue.

I would have to concur with the general consensus that this game has quite the learning curve, just the same way that, as I've made an example of earlier, Dark Souls has such a learning curve.

To the point where, being knowledgeable (in regards to the inner-machinations of particular mechanics within the game) is pretty important.

Thanks, again, for the feedback. I'm glad to hear your opinions on what keeps you guys going, especially those who best elaborate on those reasons.

To any future readers:

I would like to say (possibly) a few words, if not the last you'll hear from me on this topic (which I only follow at the time so as to clarify my feedback and produce stimulating conversation):

Perhaps Grinding Gears should be proud; every obstacle that I, personally, have encountered, proves just how dedicated the development team was to stick to the... you might say, motto that this game was meant to attract hard-core, dedicated gamers.

Maybe they don't have to be ashamed of losing a chunk of their playerbase (who, on the flip-side, suffered the misfortune of downloading a 7-gigabyte game only to quit) BECAUSE they can brag!

About how, for the game genre, GGG's is of the highest quality, most engaging in difficulty, and makes you walk out and feel like a professional on the genre. You could brag that you have a playerbase who is so very communicative, who enjoys the gameplay to the utmost FULLEST extent possible, and enjoys it. AND supports it, both financially and through sticking with the game. And, honestly, who is attracted by hardcore traits and even THRIVES in such an environment, which impresses me.

A playerbase who synergizes. I think this game has those traits.

I don't know why, but I've heard these sentiments enough to understand the perspective.

Maybe, just maybe, Grinding Gears should be a little bit proud.

I apologize for being so critical, at any rate, as quite a few topics I touch on fight potentially the essence of the game, what it was meant to stand for.

I mean, a game is, after all at the end of the day, only a game, and thus my virtue is that I'm only here to have fun at the expense of time (thus, plug-and-plays are of the most allure, or in this generation probably mobile-device games-- though I've no experience in those).

It's up to the Grinding Gears team to gauge whether input such as this is pertinent to subjects which need addressing, and I've a feeling I've largely compiled other peoples' opinions, of whose sentiments I generally share (rather than my own opinions, valid or not [but obviously, based off of the personal-experience anecdotes, you can tell they tie into my own opinions which actually consist of feedback]).

Truthfully, some of these "issues" or whatever else you may call these, could prove hard to tackle. At any rate, I have faith in Grinding Gears making good decisions, in however they choose to pursue improvements of the game, whether they go against my beliefs or with their own virtues.

I want to thank, at any rate, the Grinding Gears team for giving me the opportunity to experience this game at no expense; it's given me quite a great deal to think about whilst alleviating some stress. I should hope that leaving this feedback serves a purpose or gains attention from the staff at GGG, so as to confirm whether or not my feedback is of value.

Yours most truly & sincerely,
Ltlandpa1

k4n3, thank you for replying. I have to say, my initial reaction ended up with the last of my post being raw and peaking with frustration.
I edited that, and honestly had to because after racking my brain in order to collect everything I had something to say about, I was left almost as dismayed and stressed as when I logged off of the game, thus leaving me with some sour remarks (though, as usual, I restrained myself from vulgarity... only, rather, intense expressions of frustration in regards to "reaching my limit"). Less relevant to feedback, as a matter of fact, than what else I could have said.

I have to admit that some amounts of depression and stress, both external and irrelevant to issues with Path of Exile, were bugging me at the same time, thus bringing me to the tipping point to where I was ready to quit. I only reiterate that it seems a good indicator that if a game stresses you instead of allows you to relieve stress and enjoy yourself, you should quit for some amount of time.

I have to ask, did anybody read that point in my wall of text about the loot allocation issue? Can we consider that a bug? Is that working-as-intended? For reference, it was the only paragraph in bold and underlining like this one.
It's not a bug / it's working as intended. Just another one of those things where it happens to you once, and you learn never to keep your inventory full again. If it makes you feel any better the loot used to be permanent free-for-all, so from that perspective you probably got 60% MORE loot than you would have years ago.

Another way group play shakes out in PoE is that if you are interested in gear you do it while solo - groups are for going fast and getting exp - stacking all those auras and buffs to outscale the monsters. Since everyone only has one portal everyone is super picky about what loot they pick up, mostly sticking to belts, rings, and amulets. Quality gems, stuff like that.

What class do you play in Diablo? Or do you mix it up?
You know, in D3 I used to mix it up. Then got sick and tired of both keeping up with the metas, compared to lack of stash space, and also how the newest metas played out. Now I'm keeping with maining my Demon Hunter and maybe one or two other classes.

Though at times I vaguely regret also doing away with the majority of characters I'd made who I'd set up builds for. And ridding myself of most of their items. That simply means that if a new meta is released, I'd have to grind for it (in all honesty, it's hard to perfect gear for upcoming metas because different stats are required for different build concepts, thus using sets for metas when they are actively revamped, or rather KEEPING sets, is nearly irrelevant; the two seasons that offered stash tabs, I got them, so I'm up to... 8 now-- including one they gave for free upon announcing additions to tabs)... I think they cap everybody at 10 so even still, I've complained on their forums about how they could profit from selling their players spaces if they so chose to. Their logic once was "if we give them more, they'll still want more (stash space)"... Yeah. But you won't even sell us more? Weird.

Also, as I said, I often struggled in group play in PoE... like I said, I would sometimes straggle, thus with free-for-all, I would never catch up to beat someone to some loot, or ask if I could take it (and in honesty, that wasn't an issue terribly often.).
There were times when, considering I had bar-none in my stash, I was even concerned about picking up peachy Orbs of Transmutation rather than "good" loot (waste not, want not?). Yeah. Although, if I took a second to think about it, I could probably have picked up the better loot and traded it off for what I was lacking in. I don't know, I'm pretty bad at planning that out.

I never had the fortune, as a matter of fact, to pick up jewelry often enough whilst grouped to finish Chaos recipes! Which was frustrating! But, c'est la vie, I suppose? Never bothered to communicate really in public groups, from my experience it takes a bit of effort to agree on cooperation with loot distribution. Never really noticed ~immense~ experience gain in group play, aside from with gems, and perhaps it was worth it to play grouped, because as long as I would stay with said group, I would die less and not really lose experience.

Thanks for informing me on the loot allocation working as intended. I might scratch that out of the prior post, or rather restate it to voice my opinion that it... seems an odd function, at the least.

I guess its about what you enjoy, I find d3's action really hard to get into where as poe i feel like i actually hit things (has more of a crunch for me). I started to find out about the game right away, this felt pretty similar as playing burning crusade wow. Obviously with far less direction but hey its the internet information isnt far away.
On another note, I'm down to power-level anybody who wants to play in Diablo 3 with me, who owns it. :P My Real I.D. is LordJaraxxus#1187
For reference so you know who to add/hit up. :)
I divide Poe players by 2 categories:
1. People who play the game and get better at it
2. People who can't get better at the game and would rather spend their whole day on forums and complain on how this game is difficult.

thanks for the feedback though
