''numbers'', guess spelling is not a big thing where you are from. Numbers started growing after ascendancy release, not lab release. But good attempt at attempting to look smart, you almost succeeded.

"Attacking" someone on a miss-typing mistake (yes, pretty obvious I know) only reflects the hollowness of your "arguments".
It really, really does.

And whatever your opinion, the lab was released with the ascendancy release, calling it the lab release isn't that much of a stretch.
Hell, some here could call it the lab release because they started disliking the game overall because of it I'm sure.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

The bigger issues for GGG, though, are average player counts and the rate of decay from peak player counts after new content is released. Average player counts have risen on Steam, which is a good sign for GGG. The decay rate within a couple of months after releasing new content is high, though, and seems to be rising over time. That isn't as positive a story to look at.

Now, this might be due to the overall boost in player population, but last several leagues were fairly lively to the last day, I remember some that were a ghost town. I think the high dropoff is only natural given the structure of the game, leagues have a 'goal pyramid' of sorts where relatively few players aim for more than 2-3 characters or high challenge count.

I expect the first dropoff phase will be slower in 3.0, those are the players that play once through normal and can't be arsed to repeat it two more times, there's a good chance they'll reach endgame now.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

The fact that PoE has been attracting more and more player also probably somewhat explains this :
New players wanted to try something out, something that they are not the target of in the first place.
They give it a try, and chances are ... they won't still for long (because it's not really their kind of game, or it's more grinding that they thought and they don't have the time ... or whatever other reason ).
They are likely tons of players that were not the original target of GGG at all, but got attracted by the game, thanks to its growth.

EnjoyTheJourney was concerned about people being young and receiving real psychological damage. I'm an old retired fart. I'm secure in myself because, I have my honor, no matter what.

I'll guess what you're referring to though is your attempt at proving me a liar. You know where you called me a liar because I said that I quit playing PoE a league or two ago. You thought that you know better than me when I stopped playing PoE, a year by your "reckoning". Your "proof" that I was a liar was that you claimed my Turtledove name hadn't been preceded by an achievement or challenge number (whatever it is) in a year. I responded "I played standard" giving you a chance to apologize and correct yourself. You didn't which proved to everyone that you are not a person of honor.
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

You mean 3.0 launch which he will try to make it look like it's bigger than it really is because he will include Xbox numbers? The population will be higher obviously but it will drop gradually and by the time 4.0 comes around unless they release on a 3rd console, it will be at an all time low.

The chart does not show that PoE started growing after lab release. It definitely shows no indication of the goodness or badness of any individual.

Mezmery, I suggest that you carefully read EnjoyTheJourney's post. I don't have the same sympathy as EnjoyTheJourney because your rudeness does not warrant that, IMHO. But it is becoming obvious that you're in over your head. If you insist on continuing to post, I seriously suggest that you try to dial back a bit on the overly antagonistic attitude. Actually Perandus had the most sustainable growth because average folk with other time commitments could afford shav and other cool things they were denied before.

I remember at the end of it buying a slew of unapproachable items, just because.

That was a tad too much loot rain but it did inflate the numbers.

Followed by an over reaction where they cut the drop rate of most OP items by 30ish% and removed the loot rain mechanic AND nerfed a couple cheap OP items instead of legacying them just to be mean about it.

Uber Lab had not been invented yet and the third lab could be OPed by a second account and farming for 2-3 days max if your casual.

I just over geared it and shrugged thru it even with a low hp necro auromancer shav build which was like the worst build for it.

Then Uber lab came out to a huge fuck no.
