Forgoing the Ascendancy points is one such option. Many people don't like to do that. Do you blame them? How is "Shut up and play the game while crippled" any kind of useful advice? The argument isn't about playing the game without the ac its that you spend far more time doing anything else then the lab, that the .01% or whatever actual playtime it takes you to do the lab is a shitty excuse for calling the rest of the game or the game as a whole shit. There was a really nice restaurant named PoE. PoE was built and owned by GGG. This great restaurant had a very large customer base. This last March 2016 they decided to add a course of poop to all their meals. They also made a rule that one had to eat the serving of poop that came with every meal. Well the Dung Beetles were a fair percentage of the PoE customer base. The Dung Beetles were thrilled with this change to the menu because Dung Beetles love eating poop. The other beetles were not so thrilled with this menu change.
The Dung Beetles belittled the other beetles, "You spend more time complaining about eating poop than it takes to just eat the poop! You are all just a bunch of complainers." The other beetles respond, "But we don't like eating poop. We would like eating poop to be made optional. It is okay for you to eat poop but why do we have to eat poop. GGG can leave it on the menu but please don't make us eat poop. We think the restaurant is not as good as it used to and some of us don't even eat at PoE anymore." The Dung Beetles say, "You don't even eat at PoE anymore yet you still complain about eating poop. You are such a worthless complainer." The other beetle that no longer eats at Poe anymore responds, "This was my favorite restaurant until they started making everyone eat poop here. I'm just giving GGG feedback and suggestions on the GGG Feedback and Suggestions forum. I'm hoping that GGG makes eating poop optional so I can start coming back here. You shouldn't try to discourage feedback and suggestions on the Feedback and Suggestions forum." The Dung Beetle responds, "You are so stupid. I'm not discouraging feedback. I'm just saying that you already gave your feedback now shut up, go away, and never post anything on the Feedback and Suggestion again. You are just a whining worthless complainer because you could have eaten at least 10,000 courses of poop in the same amount of time you've spent complaining." The other beetle responds, "Well I don't like eating poop but I used to love eating at this restaurant and it seems that you are trying to discourage feedback to GGG here on the Feedback and Suggestion forum. This restaurant used to be good but now it is shit." The Dung Beetle responds, "You spend far more time eating the other items in the meal than it takes to eat a bite or two of poop. As Turtledove's, um, "colorful" analogy conveys, forcing people to endure bad game design as a prerequisite to enjoying good design is also bad for the entire game. And, overall, also bad game design. So if THAT was in fact your intended meaning (apologies for not understanding it earlier), that people shouldn't stop playing the game because they don't agree with the above prerequisite, then your argument becomes even less defensible. PPL need to stop with the ascendancy classes are purely optional. This is as dumb as saying slotting gems into your armor is optional since you could just equip a white weapon and eventually beat everything to death. The game is balanced around having these points now.
Just keep up hope till 3.0 lab changes. If it doesn't there is going to be a max exodus of players. Yup. At least a small majority of us leaving for good. No more forums posts of hope for change. At least for me anyways and my army of bump alts. |

"People also need to stop complaining that running lab is such a big deal. You probably run your shaped strand maps a thousand times but running lab 3-4x on a char is for some reason a really big deal. path of exile expert
