SET FREE THE ASCENDANCY POINTS (or rework the lab) [New ascension methods/lab rework ideas]

The Lab is utter garbage. It's the one game feature of PoE that causes me to quit. I have friends who won't even run the lab just to avoid the hatred they have for it because it enrages them.

Tonight, I was running Merc Lab with my 74 Bleeding Split build (3.2k health 12k+ evasion). No problem with Izauro until 3rd and final trial (20+ mins later). Somehow got slowed, he killed me in 10 seconds. First death of this char since a silly mistake in normal. Wow. That sure was fun. Now I gotta throw the 20 wasted minutes away (plus exp loss from death) and there's no way in hell I'm re-running it tonight. I'll wait a few more levels. But I ****ing hate it. Every single time. Every way. I NEVER stop to open chests. I NEVER go after the silver keys or anything else. I HATE ALL OF IT. The lab infuriates me. Die and start over. What a horrible design. Dodging stupid traps. Horrible design. But gotta do it for the points, right? Worst game mechanic I've ever, EVER seen in an ARPG. I just do it to be done with it and screw the enchantments - I don't care about ANYTHING the lab has to offer except the ascendancy points and I will never, EVER, EVER do the uber lab. Merc is as far as I'll go and I just usually wait until ~80 or so to do that just so I can faceroll it.

So to recap, I don't even do normal lab until I'm in Merc, and I do cruel when I finish merc, and I usually do merc when I'm close to 80. PoE has so many 1-shot death/kill mechanics, it's just not worth the "challenge". Ever.

Getting pissed just thinking about it as I write this. As so many other players do/have. Ascendancy points have to got to be awarded through an alternative system from the lab.

Oh, and I don't personally know a single player who likes the lab. At all. And I've been playing since BETA. Actually, the players I know downright hate it. Given there's been HUNDREDS (if not thousands) of posts about the lab and how people hate it (probably more than any other feature of the game) it's undeniable something must be changed.

Everything you say is pure selfishness and entitlement based. You never stop to consider that the reason lab is not changing is because the majority have a completely different opinion than you do. Good job making a thread with more than 600 supporters. GGG has had over 6m people download and play POE. More than 70k people play this game every single day. You think any one cares than sub 700 people dislike lab. Nope.

Your thread puts words in other peoples mouths claiming that every single person you are using as a supporter of lab change dislike lab as a whole. My poll makes it quite clear people dont dislike lab, they dislike aspects of it. Most people want 1 change made. You claim every supporter supports every single change you want

Lab is perfect as is. Lab is not changing. So guess you wont be playing poe for a while till you grow up and realise what good gameplay actually is.

After all this time no word from GGG about the Lab. This is sad.The Lab have their champions and Lab haters have theirs but for a Company to go silent on the issues is just freaking dumb. GGG gives something on almost any issue but .......LAB.


I hate the lab as well and do not want to deprive others who like that game play but GGG you do not need to gate the points behind such game play.

Give options for the Asc points. That is all we are asking for. GGG swallow your ego, use the suggests and give another way to get them.

If you cant get them you dont deserve them. If you dont like how you have to get them dont get them. They are not mandatory. People played the game fine before Ascendancy you can continue to play it the same as it was.

If you want them find a way to get them. Theres no word from GGG because Lab is not a Problem that needs Fixing. It is exactly the way it was intended and the minority disliming it was already known before they even released it. All you are doing is confirming their expectations, not exceeding it.

If you want change, you are going to have to get vocal support from more than half the player base. If not you are wasting your breath, and time.

This isn't presidential elections mate. All we need to do is show GGG that there is disdain towards lab. Things have changed for less than 300 pages or 51% of the playerbase or 260+ threads on one matter.

All we need to do is inform GGG about the issue we are having, explain what exactly the issue is and if we go as far to even make suggestion for it, then we will have done more than what should be expected from the players of a game.

The same people posting on the topic over and over again are not going to change it, if that was the case it would have already been changed.

Your best hope is that it gets changed with act 5, however chances of that happening aren't really any higher then it being changed this last patch, but by all means keep shitposting on the forums, its worked for you guys so far. O wait no it hasn't.

No one gives 2 fucks if you dislike the lab, I don't care, GGG doesn't care and if its means that much to you just quit the game or don't do the lab, checking back every new major patch to see if they changed it.

3-3-2 is the most logical approach and probably one of the easier ways to change it, but who knows, does it ultimately matter if the lab doesn't get changed itself?

Jgizle, please let me enlighten you on the reality of the situation here. GGG is a company for profit that makes a video game. They do what they want to do. What they want to do is to be a successful company. The best way for them to be successful is to produce a fun game that many people like to play. They have done that rather successfully up to this point. Which leads me to predict that they will continue to try to do that into the future. Labyrinth is a problem that needs fixing from the point of view of a significant portion of their user base. What this portion actually is is not quantitatively known by anyone. However, it doesn't need to be more than 50% for it to be fixed. You seem to be confusing democracy with the above described reality. A democracy is a form of government which is different from a company. GGG will eventually put fixing labyrinth into their plans because they want to be a successful company and that action would be progress in furtherance of that goal.
