After stumbling into Grim Dawn and playing it I have decided to fully move on to this game. I am no longer holding out hope for POE in the near future to fix its issues and I will no longer be posting on these forums in the near to mid future as well. Maybe in a year or two I will see what is up with this game. Until then good luck in POE and the lab folks and the new map system. Its not going to be enuf for me. But its been a fun ride. I'm officially retired. Cheers to GGG for making this great entry into the ARPG market. I am definitely excited for POE 2. I hope they learn from their mistakes here in POE 1 eventually. Time is up for me but maybe they will still fix lab for those that remain with hope they will change it. Keep your chin up to all the folks pushing for changes in lab. Keep the fight alive. -PBF

I still visit the forums here and there, but I uninstalled weeks ago. Moved on to Marvel Heroes. It has a lot of room for customization, build diversity, character variation, etc. Even has an awesome "alternate advancement" system like EverQuest had in the form of their Omega System. As a big fan of Marvel (X-Men, Avengers, and a few others) I find it also has a really nice charm to it. The best thing about it? There's no fucking Lab!

If GGG ever learns from this mistake, maybe I'll revisit PoE, but they have lost a fan, a player, and a customer with me.

I've had my eyes on that game, too. How friendly is it to self-found solo play, especially in the endgame?

I wholeheartedly agree that GGG could learn a lot about how to put together rogue dungeons from GD. In fact, I learned from GD that rogue-like dungeons can be a *lot* of fun. I certainly didn't learn from POE's Lab.

Regarding Grim Dawn, I disagree that you need to farm countless hours for uniques to finish the game. I have a conjurer summoner in late hardcore ultimate, self found and solo all the way. Resists are maxed or close to maxed across the board using just self found gear, with few legendaries and no BIS gear in any gear slot. If you're careful in how you layer augments, components, gear, and devotions, it's not that difficult to max resists and get 10K+ life. Virtually no farming was done at all, other than for faction.

For builds that scale off heavily off of equipment, then I couldn't say either way, as I don't have late game experience with such builds.

GL to PBF and others who will (undoubtedly) be making their way to other games in the coming months.

I have a blade master solo no trade as well and some of my res are on the - scale while others are way over capped. I have a unique chest that gives 140% fire res and I assumed that the way to max each res is to get uniques since they seem to give way better res than other pieces. I used res augments, mainly for chaos res, components with resists and life, but still hard to max every single res. I farmed the Lightning nemesis until I had my stash full of uniques, which took a lot of time and still couldn't do it. Maybe I was unlucky or something...

In terms of traps, in GD they resemble the traps from the D2 assassin character, meaning the shoot projectiles or other spells and disappear after a while. There are also a few spike traps here and there, but nothing jump&runny like Poe. They also deal almost no damage if you have resists for their respective damage.

Anyone knows when the patch notes arrive btw?
I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.

I'm also drawn to playing Blademasters in GD, as dual wield melee specialists have a high cool factor. I've got a blade arc and a Blitz / Shadow strike blademaster (2 in total), both with some CC and healing from the Nightblade side. They're both a lot of fun to play. But, they're slow to advance and still both in Vet HC at the moment because DPS and defenses for Blademasters scale so heavily off gear. Because I'm relatively new to GD, I'm still early in my efforts to collect scrolls that would allow me to build "no twink" characters that scale heavily off of gear. My plan is to run less gear-intensive builds through the game first, build up crafting capabilities, and then run my blademasters through the game later.

For my summoner, I leaned mostly defensive in my devotions and component picks (Tree of Life, Behemoth, Ulos Keeper of Waters for resists and the celestial, aether and chaos resistance auras from components, ...). I used augments to fill holes in resists, when entering Elite, and then Ultimate. I tried the "Lazy Pokemon" build which is very popular on the GD forums, but ended up taking a different direction. I'm very happy with he build because my summoner has close to 13K hit points at level 80 and peaks at life regen of well over 1K (with Tree and Behemoth active), allowing her to often serve as a tank for her summons (not always, but fairly often).

As an aside for GGG, POE Lab is backwards in how you have to do the rogue dungeon in order to define your character. In contrast, Rogue dungeons in GD are more fun than Lab in part because players get to take them on as a kind of "high challenge" *after* they've defined their character, at a time of the player's choosing. The notion of Rogue dungeons as a kind of "high challenge" that you build toward is a key part of the philosophy of design at GD and it has served both players and Crate well.

Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?
GD's pet class is pretty insane too. I like the rogueish character too. It does not have the long term appeal of POE but rumor is Diablo 4 will be announced soon too but that's probably 4 years away knowing blizzard.

It isn't friendly to solo\self found, the whole idea of the game is more MMO then it is ARPG. The game would be fine if it had the same ideas around ethical mtx's that GGG does, but they charge for literally anything they think people are willing to pay for, including heros, xp boost, magic find boost, ect ect.

You all crack me the fuck up talking about other games, which are clearly inferior to PoE, especially in the core aspects that makes POE great. Instead of focusing on those, you all focus on the one aspect of the game you dislike as its somehow a large burden on you to do it.

Remove MF from POE, make juiced map the new MF.
People have basically said its like having to eat poop to enter a high class restaurant.

Some of us would rather not eat poop and eat at Burger King instead.

Your options are not to eat poor or eat burger king, if the reward is AC points and you must eat poop to get them, going to burger king will not net you those AC points.

That is assuming of course you even care about the AC points anymore, if you don't by all means go eat at burger king, but stop shitposting (literally) on the forums here as we are what 2 weeks out and no lab changes announced.

Bleh, those are exactly the kinds of things I hate. Thanks for the perspective, though.

And try to relax. It's OK to play other games besides PoE. If anything, it makes PoE more fun when you come back to it.

I mean its a free game so its worth trying out, just don't buy a damn thing unless you know you are into it otherwise you are just supporting that style of game going forward.

I've been playing D3 and GD while I wait for the next league, a bit of Dota 2, but I watch it more then I play it these days.
