SET FREE THE ASCENDANCY POINTS (or rework the lab) [New ascension methods/lab rework ideas]

I had a similar issue with Rift when they started charging for new souls (skill trees). It had a good f2p before that, but that kind of thing made it very p2w, because my Bard was no longer viable without the new tree. I didn't buy the new souls. I didn't keep playing. They lost a customer/player that day. This was several years back. I recently looked into whether they had changed it or not, and it's only gotten worse. It would be over $120 for me to play with access to all the soul packs now. I'm glad I got out when I did.

Lab isn't quite the same since I don't have to pay for Lab access, but the underlying issue is similar. If I don't want to run Lab, my builds won't be competitive. Worse than that, I'll miss the fun of what Ascendancy has to offer. This was such a bad move from GGG that I don't see how they think they can justify it. Then Chris tries to spin it to sound positive while missing the obvious problem with his claim. It feels like PoE has taken a real bad turn. I hope they fix it in 2.4.

I felt like playing some POE again today.

Then I remembered lab exists, so I played diablo 3 instead.

Funny thing man. I ripped with a 93+ pure Marauder a few days ago due to the game freezing after a stronbox (performance my ass). Now i have over 1500c, some extra gg items and some GGG uniques in my stash and i wont reroll like i used to in the past. The game has litteraly nothing new to offer to me since ive completed pretty much every possible prophecy (except 6l and unique chancing) and ive made more than 50-60 different builds (maybe even more). And having ascendancies that can breathe a fresh air gated behind this... this... this atrocity, makes things even worse.

How cool it would be to have those sweet subclasses obtainable with an alternative way.... One can only hope.

Let's hope they will remove lab with the next big content update. I might start playing again if so.

If you are planning to spend as much time playing the game as you've been spending QQing about the lab, you should reach lvl100 very quickly.

Unless you get this account ............ too of course.

But if you seriously think that they will "remove" the lab, I'm pretty sure that you already know that it won't happen.

The thing is you have a point in that the 10 minutes a day reading the forums might be better spent playing except I find this way more fun than running the lab. Now my dentist appointment later might be slightly less fun, depending on how many cavities I have this time.

The difference is that a root canal is actually a test of endurance with a positive outcome. Lab is just pointless torture.
