Labyrinth, the worst content ever made in POE?

we're all thinking what im about to say
Trials fucking suck. The lab, whilst the first run ever in your life can be a bit exciting, doing it like, 400000 times to get these shitty fucking enchantments is just, terrible Twitch: twitch.tv/slayertip

My current thoughts:
- Labyrinth is fun IF you have a character "made" for it to trivialize traps and Izaro himself. - the current performance issues are killing all the fun due to massives frame drops and lag - loading times between zones in the labyrinth without having an SSD is ridiculously long (up to 1min) - Izaro boss fight in combination with performance issues and frame drops to 0 for split seconds I currently have 2 charcters in Perandus - my first character is a Caustic Arrow Raider specializing in "Phasing", high evasion and dodge - as you can imagine the character has high movement speed and very good mobility. The Labyrinth with that character is a complete joke - you can run/phase through all the traps while usingan instant flask in between when you randomly get hit by a trap. Izaro himself is very easy because with Stibnite flask while phasing he basicaly can't hit you at all and you can facetank him the whole fight if you want. Killing him with CA alone takes a while so i have a weapon swap blast rain setup to just burst him down on top of the CA cloud in seconds. An avarage lab run takes 5-7min (depending on the layout) with this character. My second character was a Hierophant RF Incinerater utilizing Scolds Bridle and MoM. This character is more focused on dealing high damage while casting and standing still. Templar has not access to many movement speed nodes (mine takes a 3%). The character is comparable slow to my Raider, can't manualy dodge/evade most traps properly due to low movement speed without movement skills. On this character you have to be really carefull. You can't run RF in trap zones due to the risk of dying quickly when you make a wrong move. You have to heavily abuse movement skills like Lightning Warp to avoid/cheeze all the traps (which is much slower as the Raider can do it). Izaro himself is a little difficult even when you are overleveld. This character has no evasion but utilizes Armour to some degree (10k atm with proper gear). The DPS on Incinerate is shit on single target without GG gear and Vaal Molten Shell (you can't use Vaa Skills in Izaro due to zoning) An avarage lab run takes >20min with this character and is very painfull to do and not fun at all My current probem is that high mobile, evasion based, ranged characters can trivialize the difficulty of the labyrinth while other character typs (in this example melee RF armour based caster) has an unproportionaly hard time to complete it. It is another piece of content where highly mobile ranged is the best thing you could use to complete and farm it, same for maps, same for almost all endgame content in this game, which makes me sad! From now on i am supposed to have a "lab-farmer" every league if i want enchantments on my other less mobile characters i feel, which is fine to some point i guess. All i am asking for right now is: can we trying to provide some endgame content where ranged/highly mobile isn't the best choice to make in this game and get's totaly destroyed? Wouldn't this be a fun and different approach you think which could breed more creativity and more long-living game experience in a new league? Due to massive performance issues right now and extreme lag spikes and random client crashes i will take a break for 10 days or so from playing PoE - hope the problems are fixed when i am back! |

" Your other 3 points are valid, but I think this one is too subjective. I have a character that died countless times to Izaro, and still hasn't defeated phase 3, because it is a very weak build, and probably will be until I hit Merci. Yet, I enjoyed my time running the Lab immensely. I have another character that Ascended on his second try, just hit Act 4, and will probably go back and level in the Lab. It just boils down to "some people like it, some people don't." Last edited by CycloneJack#6077 on Mar 18, 2016, 2:06:10 PM

" You know why they're the minority? because when someone's disgusted by a piece of software that's free, they generally just leave. And you don't hear the ones that have left, genius. "Or, they got to A3n with their new hardcore toon and got one-shotted by a poorly-designed hitbox on a spinning log with swords stickng out of it. With the bleed they can inflict, it's certainly possible. Happened to me once. ofc i had forgotten my bleed flask (because I hadn't been hit by that trap before, I didn't know it could inflict bleed, which is much less intuitive than with the sawblades or roombas, which are trivial for me to dodge) " It always seems to come back to this. You say "git gud", and the opposition says "Duh, I can do it, it's just shite." and you lot say "git gud" again. when will you realize it's not about gitting gud? Quoting Saltychipmunk:
...I look at the new act 5 boss where you have to hide behind the statues to survive the bullet hell and all I can think is... how the fuck are zombies going to survive that? They don't know what hiding is... they don't know what dodging is... they are morons. |

I like the Lab, but the Trials should be a "one and done" deal. Like, after doing the trials in normal and completing the Lab for the first time, I thoroughly understand how the traps function, and forcing me to hunt down the trials in Cruel and Merc is pointless tedium.

" I think the trials should be less tutorial like, and more a full challenge by themselves. They suck as a tutorial anyway. Add a Forsaken Masters questline

I hate the labyrinth and I will stop playing poe until it is not mandatory. Some people seem to like it, fine, let them play it.
I do not like trading in POE... I choose to abstain from that added edge and accept that I will be running with worse gear than I could if I was trading. I really do not want to give up on the ascension trees though. And I refuse to play labyrinth. Some players here seem indifferent to that, that's fine. If GGG is indifferent to it I guess I will have to find something else to do with my spare time. This makes me sad, POE has been such fun for years. |
