One thing we can all agree on is that this issue is really controversial and important to the community (just take a look at all the replies, you have to go back to April 2015 and the awakening beta access announcement for something like that) and imho GGG should clarify what their future plans for trade are (if they can atm).

No, they did not, everybody got it for free, eventhough GGG had to revamp their game engine for that, which is a lot of work, that many players (if not most) did not even remotely pay enough for, just saying. Looks like back in the days when the awakening beta was a thing, every other crybaby felt they deserved a spot in the beta over everybody else, same shit right here, right now.

And spare me your "trading faster than others is unfair and OP" gibberish, how much of an advantage these tabs really provide still remains to be seen. By the same token you might consider it an unfair andvantage if someone has a better internet connection than you do, or a better gaming PC, or a bigger monitor, or someone who uses procurement/acquisition instead of /trade 1-20. For real now, stop hating for no reason, and wait for what's to come. When you are proven right, you can start crying again, until then you folks need to cool it.
TL;DR: pipe down, and wait until you know why things are the way they are now.

Not everyone here has mommies credit card to support the game, some have family and kids to support, not to mention paying the bills and mortgage for the house.
I support GGG, in my own way, I bought normal tabs bundle, as I never needed the premium tabs features (colors and fancy naming..pfff)- not like it hard to organize the tabs in specific order to keep track of everything.
So what, is buying normal tabs, or like many others supporting GGG by buying visual effects makes us a worst supporter than someone who bought premium tabs? I don't think so.
GGG - is implementing a paywall for one of the games major features - trading.
Quicker trading means more currency, more currency means better gearing, better gear means easier leveling, and this equal to P2W.
They may as well do an Action House and in later waive, "paid to get access" Real Money Action House. Cause this will be just an option of course and "others" may still use 3rd party site and spam trade to get around.

No is stopping you from trading, but the person who bough simple stash tabs will need let's say half an hour to organise their shop and they will need to manually update it every time. The person who bought premium tabs will need 5 minutes and everything will be updated automatically every time they trade.
I remember playing a full pay 2 win mmo some years back. This was really p2w and you were paying for everything: exp gain, weapon enhancements, damage boosts and more. You know what the argument was? These boosts were optional. No one forces you to buy exp boosters, you could buy enhanced weapons in game etc.. There were people that claimed to have managed to have reached the cap level without paying anything. So someone could say that it's buying mtx there was optional and clearly the were people who COULD make it in the top without paying. But the difference in how much easier was to get to level 100 or to enjoy the game in general was abysmal.
Now I don't want to compare this with Path of Exile. Clearly there is a huge difference between that game and what is being discussed here. However I hope you understand that optional doesn't mean anything. All mtx are optional. Even playing the game is optional, no one forces you to play it. But being optional doesn't mean it doesn't offer a clear gameplay advantage. This is the point behind pay2win. That you pay for an in game, gameplay advantage that people who don't buy it need much more effort to achieve the same.
Anyway it seems you guys have won. GGG, having today's sale being stash tab upgrades believes that what they are doing is perfectly fine and they consider people like me some lunatics that are just too sensitive on the matter and cry over nothing. Perhaps, people like me are minority, and perhaps they have figured that if 100 new players try the game, it's better having 50 new players that 20 of them will buy premium stash tabs, than 70 new players where only 15 of them buying them. So this could have been the "logical" choice. But sneakily starting to break the game's identity is something I believe that it won't be good for the game in the long term.

You can still trade for free. They do not gate trading behind a paywall.

I do understand that for 'some' there are harder financial situations.
But lets be real here.
You cant play PoE on a shithouse computer.
You do require something half decent.
To have something half decent requires a reasonable financial investment..
Most people that are not *supporting* the game at the moment WILL have purchased a game on sale for $5-10 that they've played for a few hours and got sick of, yet will stick with this for weeks/months and not even consider that option of spending a little on it.
Good on you for supporting the game though, I do give you +1 on that.
