Nobody can guarantee that these old methods will still be supported, because they are not maintained and supported by GGG. The only thing they can tell us is that they would not forbid using 3rd party tools for trading, but developers can easily stop supporting them (and actually 1 of them already did, and nothing can stop Xyz to do the same at some point).
Those methods of web scraping were never officially blessed in the first place. They were tolerated and eventually, unofficially adopted as the norm.
I have a strong feeling GGG adding this functionality to Premium Tabs because they want to do reduce the inefficient, performance hog of web scraping on their web servers. If they get enough people to move over, there will probably be no issue letting the 3rd party scrapers continue. So in essence allowing some to pay for this service is letting others, like yourself, continue to use the free method. Isn't that what F2P is all about? Some pay and get perks so others play free. Get over it. :-)

You just think it's that easy to emigrate?

Lol it sucks here, better just pack my stuff up and leave!
Oh wait, I'd have to pay to emigrate, leave my family, possible emigrate illegally ect.
True, and agreed. It's one reason I don't move further south to milder climates (I'd love to).
But let's keep this in perspective: it's a F2P game. If this is such a big deal for those who complain about where they live in relation to micro-transactions, then that's their problem, not the community's problem. GGG can't magically make a F2P game "fair" or "accessible" to all. Should DPRK citizens complain about PoE being online-only, all the time because they don't have Internet access? Get real here.

A new option that is only available to people who pay. Ok let me provide an example to make my point more clear.
Before the lockstep mode you could still play the game without it. The desync was annoying but the game was playable.
Imagine if you did this: You offer a micro-trasanction that unlocks the lockstep mode in the new patch. People complain saying that this is unfair (and some others say that it's just a dollar and whoever disagrees is a whiner and a troll). You respond saying that people can still play the game the way the were able to do before it's just that the lockstep mode opens a new option.
The point is, this feature is a feature that greatly enhances gameplay experience and it's supposed to be the starting point of a new trading system. And you make it so that only paying customers get this new feature.
And please don't tell me that I can use external tools like acquisition, I already do for some time now. You did not make these tools, you are not maintaining them nor you are responsible for them. If the creator of these tools stops supporting them then what?
In the end of the day you have to realise, this isn't about me or anyone else specifically (personally I have many premium tabs so this won't be a problem for me). It's alienating new players and deviating from your original goal to only make ethical microtransactions to support the game. In the end if this wasn't the stance of the company from the beginning, I would probably not be here today.
Many people who already play the game are supporting you because of your business model so far. Don't assume you can just change that without people getting upset about it.
This post sums up my feelings on the issue, it breaks my heart to see GGG staff defending their decision.
I've bought normal stash tabs but no premium ones. Fortunately for me xys will still scrape the forums so I can continue to use acquisition, but I kind of wish he wouldn't so that GGG can see that people with no premium tabs (supporters or not) are left completely out of luck with trading.

Well, to be fair, I think this is more of a preview than anything else. I'm quite sceptical on the premium stash thing, but treating this news post as a sneak peek, the functionality on display looks really sweet. Maybe I'm naive, but I think it's not a bad idea to reserve final judgement until the trading system is introduced in its entirety. There's more to come and that might just address a lot of the concerns posted.

So many complaints about the Premium Tab being a requirement.
I'm happy with the current direction and this requirement, but at the same time I wouldn't mind if GGG wanted to give every player one free Premium Tab to cut down on the complaining. For example, give people a free single tab upgrade in their MT stash. Or just give everyone 15 free points for the store.
Either way I'm still excited about this news! :-D

People are fast to be offended, people are fast to cry, people are fast to complain whenever they hear or see something they do not yet fully understand.
Instead of going all rage/crymode, most of you people could try to gather enough information before writing your posts (e.g. people not understanding that all current tools will still work). Guys, this is GGG we're talking about and they've proven for the last 3 years that they're trying to do the best they can for the community.
If you did not spend any money on the game until now, you only have 4 stash tabs, so I don't even know how much you're gonna invest in trading. But despite that, the old tools still work and you can still offer your 4 tabs worth of items.
Suck it up fruitcakes, and also wait for the other waves of improvement (If you did not realize, this is only the first wave so far), before criticising that they did not implement the improvement that you specifically wanted.

How is this system not pay-to-win?
Installing/configuring 3rd party tools takes time, effort and knowledge.
Most people don't have the advanced knowledge of configuring xml files.
Are kids and less-educated people supposed to always be at a disadvantage?
You are still perfectly able to trade using the forums to list items as well.
This doesn't prevent you from trading in the way that people have been, it just opens up a new option as the first part of several planned trade changes.

I think we all need be happy over what we got, and not make waves over shit we don't know anything about yet.
Be happy GGG allows us pull any data at all, they are in no way enforced to let us take part of any data at all.
We could be sitting here with no means to even pull chat logs.
If they didn't let us use the data we would all be stuck in /trade 345 forever.
Sure if they decide to shut down any means of 3rd party trading and only allow paying customers to trade by other means than trade chat, we can have this p2w discussion.
Until then be glad you have found a game that you are enjoying, for free.
