guess he's now a "ugh, so ignorant, racist xenophobic islamophobic, etc" according to some people

anyone who use the word "islamophobe" is an ignorant. I'm sorry but everyone is free to criticize anything they want. if I were to talk and critic Communism, Capitalism, Catholicism there would be no problem. Why Islam should have a free pass?

Ideology are made of ideas and ideas are made to be criticized, if you can't live or accept the freedom of speech maybe you're in the wrong country?

I'm sorry but the Dalai Lama is not infallible, he may be a spiritual leader but he's still human and is still subject to the same cognitive biases and logical fallacies as the rest of the species.

didnt mean to imply that.

You seem to be confusing two concepts with each other, namely, bigotry against Muslims and criticism of Islam. Assuming you live in a country with freedom of speech, you are allowed to criticise the beliefs of the Islamic religion -- nobody is saying otherwise. What people are objecting to is when you paint an entire group of individuals -- all 2.2 billion of them -- with sweeping generalisations; that is islamophobia. For example, objection towards the sanction of slavery in the Bible is not bigotry; however, if I were to then draw the conclusion that all Christians are in favour of slavery, that would be bigotry and you would be a Christianophobe.

Edit: Of course I do not doubt that you have been wrongly accused of islamophobia, especially in todays political climate it's easy to confuse the two.

mhmmm again another word people tend to use too often, Bigotry. every debate is swarmed by political correctness, and it's killing freedom of speech. Everytime someone get offended, they call it bigotry or racism or islamophobia. People can't accept that other have different opinions.

I'm sorry, but there are opinions which are inherently bigoted. If a comment makes sweeping generalisations against a group of people, it's most likely a bigoted remark; when people call you out on it, it's possibly because they're offended but it's also because you possibly committed a fallacy. Basically, it's a sign that you may want to re-evaluate your beliefs. Also, freedom of speech goes both ways, under freedom of speech you can make abhorrent comments about other groups of people, and the same right grants others to label those beliefs for what they are.

The Dalai Lama is not the spiritual leader, he is the political leader. The Panchen Lama is the spiritual leader. In this case, the R/L DL is correct, and if people bothered to ask the refugees what their ideal solution was, they would probably say - return home if they could do so safely and securely (housing/finances etc).

A co-worker was just talking yesterday about how much she wishes she and her husband could return, but the violence is still too horrific. She likes a lot of aspects of the USA, but feels her children are growing up in a moral vacuum and says it just doesn't feel like home to her.

"It's my opinion!" does not inoculate you against criticism. If you're advocating for rights/services/treatment based entirely on race or religion, you're racist/xenophobic. No amount of crying PC will change that.

So tell us plz, what is Islam?
The Quaran the source of Islam severaly contradikt´s itself and it seem´s that not even muslim´s have a clue what there religion is about.
""If you kill one Person, is like you killed humanity""
""None believer´s are less worthy than a animal"",... so what?

The islamic peradox is, that most middle eastern country´s cant read arabic or cant read at all. Most western muslim´s cant read arabic and will accuse wrong translation´s.
The result is, that there preaching Mula´s cherry pick out of the koran, to fit into the current Situation. So even liberal muslim Familie´s, can have radikalized children and that´s exactly what we see in USA/europa.

See, Religion is a dangerous topic, it´s a therm to protect any crazy stuff.
If a so called holy book preaches violence against None-believers, it´s simply no longer just a Religion. Out of all three monothoistic believes, only christianity is tolerated/respekted in neutral country´s, and that should tell you something.
