Sarn after the Great Earthquake

A few years ago, a massive earthquake struck Wraeclast, shaking entire Sarn to the very core and causing destruction all around. My hideout recreates a part of Western Sarn in this setting.

We enter the hideout through the famous bridge across the river. The dock has been fixed up already to allow for supplies to arrive, although the church looks like it wasn't in use for a while.

A look through the broken church roof onto a crumbling statue. It seems the place didn't take the quake very well...

These are the pile dwellings housing most of the locals. When the earthquake hit, an entire ship was hurled into the area from the resulting flood wave, obliterating most of the buildings (almost all are rebuilt by now)...

...but it didn't stop there! The ship actually smashed the church wall to pieces, leaving behind a whole pile of now braided rubble. But wait, in the middle of there... is that a huge stony hand?

...it is. And there's the other hand. And an arm. And a head. As it turns out, there used to be a massive statue on top of the mountain in the north. It really didn't take the quake well and decided to come raining down through the roof. No wonder nobody even bothered to fix things up.

Up the stairs to the waypoint area, we have merchants offering their goods and services. Also, the obligatory fisherman (hi Chris!). Up north, we see the entrance to the library with...

...a literal ton of books (sorry for the pun). It looks like the earthquake showed them the way out of their shelves, after which they ended up flooding into the entrance area.
[The effect here is very hard to convey in a picture. I encourage you to take a look at the hideout yourself :D]

Only narrow passages through the piles of books give way to the mapping device, which Zana has constructed on the basis of vast amounts of ancient knowledge.

I'll be happy to show you around the place! Find me ingame as DOMRUSH.

A video showing the hideout is currently uploading, too. Check back later if you want a "guided tour" :P

I have always enjoyed ruin/temple/crypt themed areas so decided to create a hideout to fit that style.

Theme: Isolated island
Base: Coastal hideout
Warbands League

There's a small encampment at the top of the hill. Haku, Leo and few remaining exiles live here. Lot's of people have gone missing once leaving the safety of the camp.

Guards of sacred mapping altar. From here adventurous players can escape from the island to seek more challenges.

Just outside of the camp walls, a lone ranger has set up her tent.

Overgrown ruins rises from the ground when moving deeper in the forest. Small balcony-like area located next to waypoint has two chests full of treasures.

Stairs lead to a partly collapsed ruins. Several have disappeared while seeking the secrets hidden deep in the ruins. Only few has ever returned.

Main hall with a peculiar looking device

Catarina, master of death, can be found at the very end of the ruins. No wonder several exiles seeking for wealths have gone missing.

Edit: added league info

Hello, I like dark and cruel world of Wraeclast very much, so I decided to create something in that way. Welcome to Brothel Among The Ruins!

League: Standart
Base: Immaculate Hideout
Theme: Brothel Among The Ruins

Basis of idea: cultural degradation in isolation of exile, rise of sins, fall of moral. Some bandits have excavated ancient temple in a jungle and made a lair there. In seeking of a shelter from Nightmare's monsters people came here and asked bandits for protection. Those who bring food and women were welcome, those who not...you can see one at the entry.

I have made 8 screenshots for hideout overlook and 12 nice closeups (just too much content to represent!). In my link to Imgur
Spoiler
http://imgur.com/a/2ycIQ
you can see all of them in that chronology:
1-2: Hideout entrance with some bouncers fixing problems.
3-4: Main hall with mechanised waypoint (iron maidens) and a guarded check-point to inner halls.
5: Some kind of market there, just in corridor behind check-point. People use old chairs to sustain fire.
6-7: Right wing of Main hall is a Zana's cabinet.
8: Left wing is The Forge.
9-10: Ancient Colonnade with a map device. Also little treasury and entrance to The Library both guarded by Elreon.
11: The Library.
12-14: Torture Stair of Vorici and Catarina.
15: Kitchen room, toilet, Leo's stall for bets and arena.
16: Leo's stall and arena's entrance.
17: Arena.
18: Hall of Sins: therma with really dirty men, private room guarded by a pimp, show place with dinner table and a very big sofa for some action or simple rest.
19: Therma and private room.
20: Show place.

Also there are 8 best screenshots for competition:

Hideout Name: Pearl of Wraeclast

League: Standard

Theme Introduction

I'm using Catarina's Unearthed Hideout as the base and decorations from all seven lvl8 masters. Being a fan of city building game and a perfectionist, I planned the hideout from ground up starting with basic infrastructure. After all walls were laid down, fuel lines were installed to power the city lamps and well water pumps. Next were the wells and water pipes to provide water for populated area. My goal is to create a thriving and functional city, but still preserves some of the ruin landmarks.

The story so far...

While hunting, a ranger discovered a forgotten riverside ruin near the shore of Wraeclast. In the ruin, there were Secret Garden, RNG Goddess Shrine, and underground dungeons. When clearing the land to setup encampment, she discovered black oil at the deep underground of the ruin. After the black oil was purified through refinery process, fuel was created. The wealth produced by the valuable fuel soon attracted more population and the encampment developed into a small city. The natural resources and strategic location eventually turned the city into an important trading port, and the "Pearl of Wraeclast" was born.

The Mad King's Lair
Standard League
Elreon's Hideout

I am going to give imgur address because I don't know how to edit image sizes and did the best I could so I also used spoilers to hide images, SORRY GGG!!! tried to put images in post, but I think it ate up too much space and I couldn't get all the details about theme into the post.
http://imgur.com/a/GCvBx

Thematic Description
We have all been using map devices long enough, but have we ever considered anything slipping back into our hideout with us? When I started making my hideout I always imagined that I, The Mad King, was what managed to slip through some poor exiles map portal. They came into my territory and I walked back through the portal with my party...

Upon Entering the Hideout via Waypoint
The waypoint upon my party entering was smashed with a catapult ball, and has since been fixed. The pillars above the commemorated ball shapes a crown so all know who the king is. One of my party members Vagan is now running a shop to keep our blades sharp and our adventures profitable.

They Pray and Worship
But it does no good, the headstones are a constant reminder of what happened to the last wench who spoke her mind, hah hah hah.

Throne Room
I have plundered many areas with my newly acquired map device. A lavish throne to relax at the end of the day and a mixture of gold and corpses to wrinkle between my toes.... hah hah hah. Zana stands with a list of areas charted out for the next expedition

Map Device Area
The Ancient structure that their warriors didn't truly understand. Overgrown but still functioning, the scrolls give off a black haze of corruption. Daily Zana uses another corrupted scroll so that we may conquer new areas.

Museum
A place for some of my more intriguing curiosities found in areas of far off reaches. Elreon supplies information and keep the museum intact. I enjoy listening to the screams of the adjoining prison bounce of the beautiful marble flooring as I relax on the cozy couch.

Playtime with Pets
I really don't understand why they aren't having a better time. I mean these few exiles have beauty to look out at, and to top it off they get to play with my pets! I don't have time to look after my eight legged blood sucking friends, but I am thankful these exiles do... hah hah hah

Wall of Screams
Yes at one time this small group of exiles had their own group of warriors. They now hang as a constant reminder on the wall leading to the Secret Garden Dining room that one should never play trash builds when up against a Mad King. I am thankful that their lack of knowledge has surrendered a new lair however.

Secret Garden Dining Area
I do enjoy eating in such beauty. These women have figured out the only one to truly worship is me and my achievements. The Area feels secret and shut off from the world, but even more secret is our food source hidden behind bars in this room... Some call it cannibalism, we just call it survival of the fittest. AhHAahAHAH

Afterword
I hope you all enjoyed my not so beautiful tale of a mapping experience gone wrong. If anyone wants to stop by or ask a question please feel free to send me a message in game.

Write a brief explanation about any clever decorating tricks you've used and how your decorations display your theme.
Throughout the hideout I have re-skinned the tile set that comes with standard Elreon hideout and also tried to use pillars, overgrown walls, web trees, and lush treesto cover up all the library columns and book shelves.
Waypoint Area - Used Pillars to form a crown and skinned floor with stone to help match with crown. Used a tent to make Vagan appear like he has a shop, but also fit most crafting benches near entrance as décor for his shop. The different types of particle effects from catapult ball, waypoint, and fog give a pink glowing hue.
Throne Room- Gold covers the floor, but within the gold lay corpses. I have the guild stash and stash tab located in a larger more grand chest, the stash is functional and useable. I used Pillars and flags from Zana to give the throne room a rich environmental feeling.
They Pray Put the headstones beside the women, jutting out close from the wall. The blessing font is hidden partially in the statue and covered by bushes to make the plate appear as those it is holy. This is a place of worship, the only small area that those of faith in this hideout have left.
Map Device Area- Using webbing, web trees, and path floor I wanted the room to feel aged and hardly used. The map device is a huge machine with gears, pipes, and projection devices. Instead of trying to hide the marble busts I put an arc around them, placed an alter in front of them, and a fire pit lights the area without showing fire because it is in the altar. Makes the scrolls look like they are giving off a black corruption.
Museum The back drop looks like a dank crypt wall, but the marble flooring effect and golden gate give a nice pop effect.
Playtime with Pets- Both far ends have an exile wriggling in webbing if you get in and look close enough. the south end houses an exile partially under rubble with a white webbed mass on top of him giving the effect of his insides being eaten. The atmosphere is meant to feel as though a spider could come down the tree and grab any of them up.
Wall of Screams- Looks the same as rest of my wall, but I housed corpses from Haku in the wall. These guys represent the mapping party that came to my land.
Secret Garden- Somewhere to display Torment/Bloodlines league trophy, 7/8 was a huge accomplishment for me. Hid walls with trees, and glowing firefly sparkles illuminate room nicely. I also placed a lit candle in table. The jail in top right isn't suppose to be immediately noticeable as the eye should go to trophy first, it is an after effect. Beauty streaked with horror.

Special Thanks
-Thanks to MzVelvet for helping with some color theory and thematic ideas. I really appreciate the second set of peepers coming in and analyzing before submission.
-Thanks to Atratzu for helping me amass the rep needed to decorate this hideout and putting up with my PoE addiction.
-Thanks GGG for the ultimate ARPG experience. The fact we can have a hideout competition is a testimony to your game.

Hidden Backstreet Market
Warband League
(sorry for bad english)

So this is kind of in progress, because I am not enough active player and I do not have unlocked all the decorations.

Theme: I wanted to create something immersive so nothing megalomaniac. I made safe place in Sarn for exiles to do busines and make some currencies. You know. Not every exile is killingmachine. Here they can come and earn wealth by other ways. Of course there are also masters providing their services.

This is main market street. There are some shops, toilets and of course drunk man.

On the west is smith, where usualy works Haku. But right now he has some busines elsewhere so Vagan stands there and feels uncomfortable. (yeah, Im leveling Vagan for decorations, and I dont want to loose exp.) Across the street is some carpet vendor. Because there is no market without someone like him, right?

Behind the carpet vendor is Voricis Workshop. He is also guarding passage to private part of the market.

In private area is of course waypoint and also Catarinas Emporium. Her services are not for every exile. Unfortunately she is not here right now. (the same as with Vagan and Haku) So in her place is temporarily her undead servant Lord Gertrud the Skull. Elreon is in discussion with him about the pile of books in Catarinas tent. But he do not like undead servant very much.

There is also well with clean water and Leo is in charge of distribution. But his helper is kind of drunk so Leo is missing his arena.

Last thing in private area is my caravan with all of the stuff I found.

North of main street is Zanas Workshop. She collects junk from the slums and then she creates some machinery. Also the dude is fishing for some junk.

Because Zana is not here very long (i found her just 4 days ago), her map device is not quite complete. But it is working and thats enough for now.

Thats it. I hope you like it. I will be working on this hideout also in standard league, after transfer. I would like to make small tavern and upgrade map device, and overall upgrades overtime.
thx
