PoE's performance is poor for a lot of people

While you are correct, VERY few games are multithreaded. You are correct that a 64 bit would also help, but multithreaded apps are few and far in between for a reason. They're a pain to code.

Pretty much every single AAA (or graphics heavy game) released in the past 3-4 years is multithreaded (and 64 bit).

Doing mmultithread on a basic level isn't hard, most games try to split AI/physics/business logic into separate threads (plus they may render some graphics on another thread if applicable)

The biggest thing with PoE is it doesn't use any other threads at all, at least if they tried to offload some processing on one extra thread it would make a world of difference

pain? yes. but a necessary one as far as good business-class software is concerned.
the benefits far outweigh the effort invested.

in games? no idea. never coded an actual game.
I imagine single-threading is strong when doing rendering and whatnot.
not sure how the GPU handles it though, because GPUs are famously multi-threaded.

Generally speaking, any kind of single threading in modern games is going to bottleneck really fast. If you look at the clock speeds of CPU's, they have started flatlining in the past few years, hence why there is such an emphasis on parallelism in modern day programming (its taking over in both backend code and games). Its also one of the reasons why functional programming style has started offshooting in the past couple of years (hence why the latest couple of C++ standards have improved in this area a lot)

Then you have new languages like Rust which make multithreaded programming a breeze, as well as memory safety. Asking GGG to move to another language isn't really realistic, and it wouldn't happen, but similarly to what they did with Lockstep, asking them to make a v 2.0 of their engine isn't a far ask (and if you have a look at other games, they always do major iterations of their engines)

Hm? i was sure that thread was deleted... i did not seen it like 2-3 days nowhere.

Oh yes i have strong pc aswell and in end game you get massive lag spikes, when game pace become faster and more cluttered, with every possible mod and other end game crap.

But i'm sure they will fix stuff like they always do.
GGG thank you for all the great things you are doing. You have combined every element of all other great Rpg's and joined them together as one Diamond, that will shine Forever.

This is coming straight from the heart <3

And i want to see removal of retarded 1 shot mechanics. And crit puncture retarded shit on non regen characters.

I will never understand why people in threads like this don't post their specs. Makes the whole thread essentially worthless.

How would that help? Literally everyone's setup is completely different. We've got AMD, intel, nVidia, ASUS, Powercolour, XFX, Gigabyte, basically everything. My point originally is that GGG should author a tool that would be able to test real world metrics, and would obviously know the hardware.

Easy to point to where a problemap lies with the specs and complaint given. Can often times either find a solution, or pinpoint the bottleneck.

+1. I totally agree with this.
It's been a month and nobody in GGG says nothing... What a shame. What happened to the contact with people or is it just nice words that they feel uncomfortable when they must deal with important topics like this?
Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what?

no.
please stop that crap already, Slayer.
the "bottleneck" is ultimately in GGG's code and not the PC Specs.
you know it, I know it and GGG know it too.
are some players (you) running it on a PC capable of powering through every single hiccup? sure. is it a solution? no. it's a Work Around, and one that costs a fuckton of money at that. so much money, I don't think anyone would be buying a rig like that, just to play Path Of Exile.

I recently tried PoE on my office PC (you commented in that thread), and the experience with an SSD, a brand new Core i5, and a ton or RAM was radically different compared to my good old home Potato. it's a machine that cost me quite a bit, and it is not for PoE or any other games.
and even there, doing a Kaom run with 2 other people in a Public Party was FPS-stressful...

GGG's engine needs a fix.
GGG's compression, reading/loading and indexing of the content file, needs a fix.
these are facts, and you going into every single thread and going "hmm what's your specs?" isn't helping. it's annoying and beside the point.

the sooner they start fixing the engine, the better for the survivability of the game.
the more they delay the cloggier the game will run with next updates.

"How come only evil forces were released?" - "Because there are no good forces."
"So, then. You don't believe that there is a God." - "There was a god."
"Well, then. Where is he now?" - "I killed him," said Kane.
