PoE's performance is poor for a lot of people
@deteego
While you are correct, VERY few games are multithreaded. You are correct that a 64 bit would also help, but multithreaded apps are few and far in between for a reason. They're a pain to code. |

" pain? yes. but a necessary one as far as good business-class software is concerned. the benefits far outweigh the effort invested. in games? no idea. never coded an actual game. I imagine single-threading is strong when doing rendering and whatnot. not sure how the GPU handles it though, because GPUs are famously multi-threaded. Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat

just too add my 2 cents: the performance problems are one of the reasons i will take a break after appr. 800 hours.
1.3 was quite O.K. for my average computer, however 2.0 and its several "patches" brought PoE to a technical state, where i don´t want to accept anymore, that a game runs like this. if i remember the last Q&A correctly and what Chris said about GGG´s plans for the future of PoE, than hopefully these plans involve a humungous update/rewriting of that ancient engine. otherwise i cannot imagine, that enough customers are willing to continue their support and/or new customers will become supporters. that would be pretty sad for such a gem of an ARPG :-(, but GGG has to realize it |

I wonder if GGG ran out money to fix these performance issues. I used to be able to look past it, but with all the other problems I am getting frustrated.
At least the new Fallout will be out soon. Last edited by robertredberry#4286 on Sep 8, 2015, 4:10:53 AM

I will never understand why people in threads like this don't post their specs. Makes the whole thread essentially worthless.

just to add another thing, that i cannot understand: the recent patch for GrimDawn with 230 mb took not even 3 minutes to download AND install (via Steam).
however, that tiny tiny 1,9 mb from the latest PoE-hotfix downloaded for almost that three minutes and then installing takes another 7 minutes (also via Steam)!? common :-( Last edited by Speedjunkie#0216 on Sep 8, 2015, 1:06:00 PM

My game rig got put into a box and moved to the attic.
It could handle 6x mjolner no issue at all. Yolo all strong boxes no lag whatsoever. Playing on laptop now. Very playable. Just ice crash ... can crash me. Happened 2ce. Loading times a disaster. Moved poe to usb3.0 stick and loads in 18sec now. Good solution imo Vorici can shove his fuse up his [removed]

" How would that help? Literally everyone's setup is completely different. We've got AMD, intel, nVidia, ASUS, Powercolour, XFX, Gigabyte, basically everything. My point originally is that GGG should author a tool that would be able to test real world metrics, and would obviously know the hardware. sigfault
