Don't feel like playing anymore.
" That would only make being stuck in the "magical" 72-75 soooo much more boring. Already it's a faceroll (with SF gear). They can lower the difficulty of Merc, but please no maps. When night falls

This thread doesn't have anything to do with mapping. At all.

Nice try fellas, but you forgot to think before posting.
You want easier lower content, go on, i don't mind, but leave the highest content super hard. So, it wasn't about mapping, it was simply about the scaling of difficulty throughout the games content.. But whatever, lock tha brains in da box, don't let it out! I am the light of the morning and the shadow on the wall, I am nothing and I am all.

" ^This, post for emphasis and actually discuss the topic presented in the OP. Also shags i agree with your last few post's, the drop-off after act4 is way to steep. I get that act1 should be easy in comparison (sort of like a holiday hour after breaking a sweat in act4), maybe even act2+- but really stuff should pick up pace again near the middle of act2 in my opinion. Remember those days of fell-shrine farming and fearing vaal? Yeah, i liked those days. Party boards filled with fell-shrine groups, packing together for 6 hours sometimes farming skellie's and zombie's...good times. I don't think i have party'd ever in the new edition of the game, there is simply no "drop-off" point where it is required. Middle of act4 perhaps, but then you just run aquaducts solo imo for loot. I sort of miss that stopping point at mid-game cruel and merciless. Irrelevant for you obviously as you play solo. Peace and i do hope they shift the balance a bit better, like you noticed the game is to easy after act4 for a too long time. -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" I find this ironic. I went in blind not spoiling myself, and killed piety first time. Saw the laser, went "oh, this is diablo 2 boss fight, easy', ran in circles while lasering. Then realised laser is slow, actually don't need to keep running, can dps for part of it. Not saying anything else about the act 4 I disagree with, I found Daresso to be needlessly punishing for my melee build, but I do wonder why people have so much trouble with Piety. Diablo 2 used to move a LOT, and also turned far faster but instead had a slower 'beam' |

I would really like to try to jump in your mind Shags and understand why you can't make it past A4N. But the truth is that i really can't join discussions like this because, simply put, i'm a skilled old stamp player which adapts to everything and i can't understand some (actually, most) player's problems with difficult presented here on forums. So i usually refain from posting replies.
My first character on tempest was a templar and had this stats in normal with purely self found + master crafted gear: HP 1600 ES 300 resists 60 ish Main attacks was magma orb in a 3 linked wand +1 fire, so pretty distant from metas zero armor and zero evasion My tree when attempting Malachai was like this (i think, dont remember) https://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAwUABLMJqhZvGjgabBzcJKonLyj6Nuk8BUGHRZ1G11NSWfNj_WaecYVyD3rmgpuCx4uMjxqQVZo7muCdrp_fogCnCLc-uJPAZsCa1abYvdn842rkIuvu7TzvfPAf-d356PrS_go=?accountName=Mahesys&characterName=SonOfOriath I deliberately took many life nodes over damage nodes because i didnt know what to expect. DPS was fine since i was dual wielding wands with adds X-X fire damage (perfect for magma orb) I played the beta, but none of the late A4 (piety, organs and mala) My act4 experience: 1) dried lake --> a mob hitted me with tornado for 500 damage, manually dodged them and kited them from that moment 2) Voll --> easy, i knew what to do 3) mines --> easy, just kited the "hammerdin" mobs and the giant ones to not get hit 4) Arenas --> scary since i had close to no armor, but thanks to my DPS mobs usually melted before even reaching me 5) Daresso --> here i have to admit this fight was actually hard. He hits so fast he's almost impossible to manually dodge and also with zero armor and evesion he dealt loads of damage, figured out that decoy totem + golem was a distraction enough to kill him 6) Kaom --> all his attacks are easy to dodge and loooong telegraphed, zero problems 7) Piety --> scary, VERY scary, didnt absolutely know what to expect. Started DPSing her and then her laser got me for i think 800 damage. I saw laser goes clockwise and then learned to dodge it. From that moment it was an easy fight 8) organ bosses --> not really any problem, shavronne = topaz rings doedre = manually dodge 9) malachai (pre-nerf) --> learned the mechanics, ported to town 2 times when flask went over and then killed him. Overall A4N was easy for me, not too much issues but because i know how to build and equip a character. However i can really see the complaints in A4N of player new to game that don't know how to build and that "cruised" A1, A2 and A3 (they're too easy and doesnt prepare you to A4 difficult imo). But from you Shags hanging around for years in this game there is no excuse even as SF... Your Marauder build proves that there are still issues in the way you build your characters. As for A4N difficult spike, i do agree even if for me was easy. A4N it's harder than A1C and A2C. But imo it's needed a buff to difficult in A1C and A2C and even A3C rather then a nerf in A4N. I don't wanna see A4 nerfed again... actually i'd like to see no difficult nerfs at all Last edited by Mahesys#6567 on Aug 21, 2015, 4:50:42 AM

I just want to chime in and react to OP, havent ready much of the 11-page long thread.
I can empathize with OP feeling for self-found play. I was in the same boat some time ago but I realized it was either adapt to trade or go bust. I like PoE too much to let it go so I started to buy or sell items in a limited fashion during Warbands, for the first time ever. Why I did that? I could not find a suitable 2h weapon to defeat Merciless Abomination Piety and later bosses. I know they are optional but I wanted to clear the game. The weapon I crafted myself could not even scratch Piety. All it took was 4 Chaos to buy a new mace to wreck her and rest of Act4 including Malachai. |

" Buy or find a normal weapon like timber axe, shadow axe or jade chopper, use 4 wetstones on it, alch a rustic sash and then use the recipe weapon + rare rustic + wetstone to have a +50%-69% increased damage. Use an augmentation and hope for attack speed. there you have a two handed weapon for A4N and A1C. Actually, spamming alts may be even better than the rustic sash recipe ///OPTIONAL\\\ Use a regal the weapon and lastly craft flat physical damage on the weapon with Vagan for an even better self crafted weapon |
