A4 Piety, overtuned? + the burning man
I play melee in hardcore and yes the laser was scary. But it never got me lower then 50% hp and I don't think my res was capped. I guess i was lucky.
Quicksilver and leap slam helped alot. Also if you know you wont get away from the laser, minimize the time you come in contact with it. |

Just finished act 4 on cruel.
2.9k life, 6% regen, capped resists, around 1k armor, and fortify. Piety's autoattacks were chunking me for around 1500-2000, if she hit me with an attack then started casting her beam or a death ball, it's game over. Beam 1-hit me a couple times. Honestly, I find her worse than Malachai. The worst part of the Malachai fight for me was when you had to deal with him and Piety. Sometime's she'd drop one of her death balls, and then Malachai would hit me with an autoattack and I'd pretty much instagib. This should not be happening with a tanky character in only the mid-tier difficulty. That fight actually kinda left me feeling like I never, ever want to do that fight again. That whole sequence from the first Piety fight to beating Malachai was just exhausting and really not very fun. Just my opinion, of course, but this is how I felt. |

Much of act 4 seems to be overtuned in terms of boss health/damage.
From normal on live and up to merciless in beta it just seems to be that players are forced into a lot of damage (or very mobile builds RIP channeled spells). The thing I liked about dominus/piety/vaal construct/mervil is that most of the damage can be avoided; better yet you didn't spend most of the time avoiding things. Act 4's bosses seem to be balanced around evading attacks but designed around hitting you. |

Pietys Beam is way overtuned for hardcore. When you have a tanky build its "okay" but with a medium build its incredible hard. The problem also is, that the beam is sometimes incredible fast, so it becomes nearly unavoidable. The should ALWAYS move with the same speed! It deals a ton of damage adds bleed stacks, wtf.... the cooldown should be much higher of the beam. I couldnt even deal with the adds before the next beam started. You try to avoid the beam and more and more adds spawn. When you come to the point where you can only restart the fight, because that LITTLE ZONE is FULL, you cant even move.
As a hardcore player its not acceptable. Im fine with Mal but Piety.... a little boss with not even loot gives me more trouble then the end boss of the act... srsly... |

Doesnt look that hard tbh, use a mobility skill, AA, end charges, MoM, IC etc and learn the mechanics The videos ive seen of people crying for a nerf have been embarrassing, they are literally running towards the beam, using skills while the beam is coming at them and have poor defence in their build The beam is 100% physical, it is not the hardest thing in the world to mitagate let alone avoid, to me it looks like a well balanced boss encounter |

" Thanks! I want to add: Does temporal chains reduces her rotating speed while she's channeling the beam? Bigger rooms for Piety and Malachai and a place to hide away from the beam. Balance of the bosses - fine.

Regarding the bug or whatever with Piety on the wall... could that happen when using knockback?

it's not that I don't know the mechanics of the fight. The solution to every problem is not always "git gud". I know exactly what to do. I did my best to dodge the beam and I had pretty strong defenses for cruel.
The problem is. I play melee, so I need to get close. Her autoattacks chunk half my life or more (with 2.9k life plus fortify and armor). The laser can come out with little windup and in a random direction. Sometimes she'll hit me with an attack, then right away just point blank me with the laser before I get a chance to move out of the way. It's basically an unavoidable death. Also. If your build has knockback, you can wind up repositioning Piety into a spot where you can't run around her beam anymore. You also have all the eyeballs floating around that can trip you up and wind up making you eat laser. I understand what they were trying to do with that fight, but it's just not well implemented. |

I really don't get why I keep seeing the suggestion that her room be larger. Did you people fail middle school geometry? The smaller the circle the shorter the circumference. The further you are from her the more likely you will be unable to dodge the laser. The room is deliberately small so that you have a chance to stay ahead of it while she turns. This is a really classic boss mechanic, early 80s games like Xevious have bosses like this. It is fine and completely fair.
When I kill a man he stays dead.
