A4 Piety, overtuned? + the burning man

Normal Act IV could be tuned down considerably and not annoy those players looking for a challenge. That would also make the first three acts of cruel considerably more consistent in terms of progress. It's really punishing. Every reasonable build should be able to finish normal, and that's just not happening.

I'm finding that I don't even want to log on until this issue is resolved, and if they choose not to deal with it I'll look elsewhere for my ARPG fix.
Yeah, that is pretty much the core of it: right now, Acts I-III Cruel are always WAY easier than Act 4 Normal. This is a big problem; it shows an utter lack of balance and consistency.

I just played through the Normal campaign with my ranger and I think the A4 bosses are actually quite manageable when you know what to expect and the last patches balanced them somewhat.

If anything, the Act 4 bosses are pushovers when you are with a party.

They should consider making it harder by giving old enemies new tricks. Rather than simply scaling damage. It'd make more contrast between normal and cruel if the mobs gained new abilities.

Tbh now they nerfed Malachai I don't think it's at all that bad, but yes the piety beam unpredictably starting on you can be a pain. Being able to use the movement skills like flame dash, whirling blades etc. sounds good though i wasn't aware you could use them to jump through the beam. I play on HC but i'll try it out in normal again to check because that would be useful for merciless when i do it!

As for the comment about scaling the bosses on cruel+ with new abilities rather than just buffing they're damage output. I agree completely they need to make cruel a little harder to compensate for act 4, but they already do change some fight mechanics after normal. For example, Merveil summons her daughters in cruel+ and maps but in normal she just someones the small squids :)
Ripped my lvl 75 Scion at merc act 4 piety red beam.

4500 life
1500 ES
50% block
Spell block...minimal to none. I didn't have stone of lazhwar or rainbowstrides

Basically an extra unintended whirling blade put me back in the beam. She ony had 1/8 of her life left. So close but yet so far...

I switched to a Rise of the Phoenix for Kaom. Deresso I switched back to my 29 block ES/Life shield.

Only had one unique: Anvil which helped for block. Also cybils paw of course

I used Iron will to help with mana use until I switched to EB/GR/MoM at lvl 70. Switched to fire Pen at that point. DPS was 4600 tool tip.

It was honestly very easy to level. Enjoyed it very much.

Considering rolling another one. My friend wants me to go SRS.

Good luck to all

Remember the formula for the circumference of a circle.

C = 2πr

Or in other words, the closer you stand, the less you run. Of course when you're busy running mobs are still flooding in. Yep, over-tuned.

Also... the closer in you are the less that beam needs to move as well, which is a moot point since it also covers a larger ratio of the circle at the same time (and you are taking a larger ratio of the circle as well). At longer range the beam may move over pixels at a increased speed, but it covers a smaller ratio of the overall circle and must move over more overall pixels to hit a box that is also smaller in overall ratio to the overall circle size.
