I thought all the balance changes with legacy items remaining in perm leagues(changed in temp) and certain items/mods unavailable in temp leagues made that very clear?
I don't see how that really makes it clear ... if the game was not intended to have permanent leagues it would have permanent leagues. Some people tend to forget or neglect the fact that many PoE players prefer standard and hardcore because they are in fact permanent. Where you are not pressed by time to finish your goals. You see some of us have to go to work, have family, kids and obligations and we don't have all the time in the world to play PoE ( tho we certainly want to have that time ). Also some of us like other features that permanent leagues present opposed to the temp leagues. In the permanent leagues you do have legacy items and that leads to the possibility of making much larger variety of different builds, not to mention that you have all the time in the world to create the character that you want to play. That is not the case with temp leagues unless you have unlimited time to play. In temp leagues you can't dream big ... you are forced to play cheap builds because you start with nothing and for many of us the time when we have enough currency to make the build that we actually won't to play never comes due to limited free time.
So don't tell me that PoE is a temp league game, it has temp leagues and many players play them but that doesn't mean that it is solely a temp league game. The whole idea of a hack'n'slash arpg sounds ridiculous to me. The whole point of the genre is to gain slowly gain power by leveling and improving your gear to the point when eventually you have the best possible items and highest possible level. At this point some stop playing or they start a new build. Fortunately PoE has great build variety ( again much greater in perm leagues ) so that it can be replayed many times providing you with quality fun time again and again. But if all that effort towards gaining power is doomed to be erased in a month or 2 or 3 ... then it kind of looses its meaning.
That's just my humble opinion of course.
I play Standard exactly because of what you wrote.
People claiming "hamster wheel" when they have been using T1 gear for over 2 years already?
It's not like the current T1s only lasted 2 months, at some point there had to be something new added to the game disregarding a bit of the "standard balance", GGG can't keep holding the game back and not adding new stuff just because some guy spend money on mirror-worthy gear.
Yeah, it happens, and it'll happen again in a couple of years with a new big expansion that changes/adds new bases. You should know this by now, even in standard things are not meant to be eternal.

And why does a new tier of mods effect slowly gaining power? If you have no intentions of selling your items and just want to play your characters you lose nothing(and gain a lot potentially!). If you wanna hoard items and feel entitled to continually gain value. You have a bad attitude.
I play maybe 3-4 hours a day maybe 4-5days a week now. I still understand the game is balanced around temp leagues.
Can't hold the game back just to keep a few perm league players "happy". Gotta move forward.

Doesn't this mean that standard will be more alive because that's where all the currency / mirror of kalandra's are anyway? Good for standard in my eyes...
That my current mirrored gear get's a nerf, whatever it will still be better than 99.8% of the crap uniques in game :)
So good news, no need to cry! We get the chance to make greater items!!!

Woah woah woah, wait a minute, wait a minute! When did i say anything about the new tiers of mods ? Where did i say that i don't like them ? Where did i say that introducing them is a bad thing ? I just responded to your comment "But, it's not a perm league game. The game is about temp leagues." because it was untrue ( in my opinion ). That's all ... I haven't expressed opinion on the new mod tiers ( which i like )... so don't don't put words in my mouth ... or my posts i guess ...

I'd actually support the idea of removing that cursed eternal orb. it just completely takes out the risk of failing a craft ..
i still remember when ppl spent around 400 ex to get a somewhat decent hubris circlet out for mirror service which was quite an accomplishment given the drop rate and trade rates of those orbs back then.
some people might still remember those pre-eternal mirror items :D
Generally, we get only one chance to make a good first impression, and very few second chances to change anyone's mind.
Even though many might want everything yesterday, I highly respect this striving for quality.
GGG started POE as the only true spiritual successor for D2 fans, and now is revitalizing the game with a ton of freshness.
Honestly, I miss the days of slow and steady updates... where a new unique, gem, or support might inspire new character creation and build planning weekly... But then, everyone is a critic.
