Why no dark thoughts :(

Few things to address:

1) Chris explicitly stated in the past that they want to go in a lateral progression for character development in expansions rather than vertical. He said they do not want to de-value people's items that they worked/played hard to obtain.

2) Yes my sword is still a good item, that's not the point. If I completed it as 6t1 I could recoup some of the cost of making it in mirror service, now you made it NOT tier 1 and that opportunity has been taken away.

3) For those defending power creep and saying its necessary. No, power creep is caused by poor game design decisions. It has ruined many games with amazing potential (Destiny is perfect recent example) It ultimately turns the game into a hamster wheel where everything you do is meaningless because it will be trivialized next patch.

4)Whonin their right mind would bother crafting a 6t1 item in 2.0 now that GGG has set the president that they'll just release newer better mods down the road?

This.

Path of D3 would mean that actual 500 dps mirrored weapon would face in 2.0 new random trash weapon with 5 000 dps, which would be just ok to clear Cruel difficulty.
This is not even close to be the case.

This.

GGG can't please everyone. More people are excited about a change and new features, than the few people who stay on standard to craft a 6T1 item. When is the last time they actually added more mods to make your old items useless? Because I've played this game for a little over a year and a half and haven't seen in happen, and am getting rather bored of the same old meta. The status quo is boring and just because your feelings are hurt you spent so much time and money on something that will become obsolete, well sorry bud but go play an offline game with no patches if that's how you what to enjoy a game.

that would be the extreme way.
but arent they the same concept? old items will be replaced by new items.

+1

I wouldn't have an issue with the new tiers of mods if GGG didn't specifically say that they weren't going to introduce new higher tiers for mods.

a. GGG has lied. What is it called again when you misrepresent a product in order for people to buy it...?
EDIT: I cannot believe this was not decided upon quite some time ago - so anyone notice that this was announced some time after the release of the new 'supporter' (read 'sucker') packs?

b. GGG has now come out and acknowledged that nerfing (which is pretty much directly equivalent to implementing inflation on the time(=currency=items) you have spent playing the game) is a core part of the game's ongoing management paradigm.

GGG have been walking down this road for a very long time now, but have always produced excuse after excuse. I kind of thought they were being deceptive, but stupidly did not imagine that an actual company would so blatantly act against a core group of their customers (people who play standard - which is now dead, given that character continuity is now officially off the table): by lying to their face.

But at the very least we now all have clarity on this:
PoE = D3.
GGG = Blizzard. (Although, did Blizzard also lie to their customers?)

The question now is simple: do you want to play a game that implements time/currency/item-inflation against you?
If you are someone who just plays races and temp-leagues, then I guess you will be sorted: if like me you play standard nearly exclusively, then this 'game' is now a decaying corpse.
