State of the Beta

Regarding item mod changes I'd like to see items that drop from monsters having a higher chance of spawning higher tier mods when compared to rerolling with orbs. That way killing monsters would feel at least a bit more rewarding.
On the other hand, divination cards might address that problem on their own.

Obviously, since some people dont get it.. i will explain it. There is no specifigs since this is just a update for us to know how the devolopment goes and that they appreciate our help, and not a thread meant to start a discussion about balance changes. Thats intended in another thread.

He said they had more Work to do than they initially thought.. not that they delay the expansion as some seem to have read. I read it as a uncertainty anyway.

On a more personal note. Thanks for the update. And please do take the time you need.

Good Riddance?

Power Creep is coming and is inevitable. Whether it happens in 2.0 or 3.0, it WILL happen.

Get over it or move on.

what a wonderful and inspiring post. i like that you're telling me to get over it and move on, when i already said that it's just a game and that i'd quit playing it if it happened.

it's nice that after i said i'd leave, you tell me to move on. because it makes so much sense!

it's kind of hilarious to see people encouraging power creep. how far PoE has fallen, i suppose.

So if level 90 content is added eventually, you want to keep your ilvl 77-79 mods as the best possible?

yes. if they fix desync but replace it with power creep... why bother? i'll quit without even seeing act 4.

As GGG adds additional acts, they will be also gradually be increasing the attainable levels within the main (non-map) game. When act 5 arrives, expect another item/mod tier and more levels within the game.

When act 10 finally arrives, you may be killing the end boss at level 90. Never can tell.

...the 2 are unrelated, though. map/monster levels/etc have nothing to do with newer and higher tiers. tiers could simply be adjusted, anyway. ie: move resplendent from 75 to 85). it's hardly a reason to advocate power creep just to have an excuse to carrot on a stick the player base.

I still think the beta will likely only last 6 weeks. Usually when game developers tackle huge projects with myriad unknown complications and ambiguous parameters for completion, in my experience, they usually finish ahead of schedule.

@ robmafia

It's just a fact of life because of the way they're developing the game. Everything is going to change constantly for the duration of PoE's life.

Just the way she goes.

Liquidate now while your stash still holds value!
nah, i'd rather just take the money i'd be giving ggg and buy a ps4... and let everything in my stash "rot" away.

thx for taking the time to explain all that in detail, quarl. much appreciated.

i must say i expected this after seeing chris complaining about being kind of forced to announce a release date very early and seeing the amount of changes you did to the game.

my personal wish: take it easy, don't burn yourself out trying to get the release finished to satisfy some unpatient players. keep it like a tech guys already said: "it's done when it's done".

GGG gives another prime example how agile software development is done:
You deliver an increment, gather data and user feedback, then you re-iterate and repeat. Of course timings change and it's good that they let us know. I'd rather have a stellar, community driven product development than a buggy release that only made it to the live realm because of some arbitrary release date.

if you're right, my understanding of agile programming is wrong. imho at agile you deliver a working product to the customer with one feature added at a time. like: today we added the daresso quest, next week we add kaoms realm and the week after we add some changing to trading for testing purposes.
i was all for releasing act 4 in smaller steps. i got what i wanted, unexpectedly.

quarl, can you please elaborate of this "new higher tier mods" you mentioned? not that i ever had a all t1 item or ever will but just the fact that you obviously want to introduce power creep after promises to avoid it completely, disturbs me.
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
and for as little as 30$ YOU TOO can play the unfinished, unbalanced content....now for an even more extended period!
Indirectly they are saying that there will be a delay in the launch of 2.0
