State of the Beta

I am in favor of almost everything said, and would have suggested some changes myself. (Such as, the change to jewels - it has been very disappointing to find some jewels so far:

"Oh no, it's a great dagger jewel, but why are there axe mods on it!?" - I'm glad that is being addressed.

In general, I think the game would be more satisfying to players if getting Unique items/jewels wasn't so disappointing. Even poor uniques should be good for something.

Now lets put some Life on Kaltenhalt - and really make some progress! :D

........

Extending the beta I think is a good thing. Especially once more people get the chance to play it.

One thing I didn't see in the possible changes was quest progression.

Spoiler
In particular I'm talking about finding Clarissa before the Act 3 town. It makes absolutely no sense to free her and then have all the NPCs give you their "Lost in Love" dialogue before even greeting themselves. Getting to the Sarn Encampment to find a major NPC missing was something unique to that act and I'm rather disappointed that it's no longer part of the game, especially with all the confusing dialogue changes it brought with it.
I've been playing the Beta for 2 days. I notice less desync, but the game stopped working and shut down like 4 or 5 times in 2 days. Am I the only one with this issue?

HYPE!
I agree with Stormquake, especially the "Lost in Love" Quest makes no sense at the moment.

My suggestion would be to put Clarissa with her Blackguards right before the Crematorium entrance.

That way people will have no trouble finding her during progression and the storyline makes sense :)

Jewels with conflicting mods are treated as broken, rather than just less valuable. We are adding systems to not add (for example) dagger mods once an item has sword mods.

The new quest rewards are more limited in variety to ensure smoother game progression for new players, so this secondary system is intended to allow the flexibility experienced players are used to.

This is the kind of shit that will make me fall in love with you again, GGG. Making the RNG more rewarding is something PoE has always needed. For so long it seems like the RNG just keeps getting watered down and meddled with with the assumption that the player will just get what they need via trading, which alienates and punishes legitimate and self-found players. And to the second point, when you give options for different playstyles and don't pick a side, you expand your playerbase considerably. Masters was a game-changer for self-found and is now a very useful tool for racers as well. It only makes sense that the next step is making the RNG smarter. Just don't take it as far as D3 did, where itemization practically limits the RNG to the character class you're playing. It's cool to get items you can then use on other characters, but in poe that's pretty much all you get, on the rare occasions you get anything at all. Somewhere in the middle of that scale is ideal in my mind.

XP gains, and the race to 100 rebalance

I hope to god this means you're finally going to rescale the death penalty, for those of us not interested in the hardcore world. A death at 95 is huge compared to one at 85.

edit: aaaannnd I spoke too soon. Everyone enjoying their new supporter packs while the nerfs get piled on? Now we see the spirits all but go away, the strongboxes and juicy packs slowly decrease in number, the mob density lower and anything that feels too fun by merciless get nerfed into disappointment. PoE = It starts out fun, but they make sure to balance that shit right out.

no, it crashes a lot
So Path of Nerfs is gonna be delayed, not a shock.. Stuff has to be nerfed as hard as possible so people will quit the game before they even get the chance to l2p...

Good old GGG.. Not a good pattern, may the CB beta key supporter packs bless you with food on the table, and maybe bless us players with better servers.

Making balance to the game is one thing but nerfing and ruining the fun for newcomers is really bad.

It's like GGG is tailoring the game towards the few thousand hardcore gamers and don't even care about new customers/ new people to the game.

How about increase drop rates = more people will play and advance in the game? More people will trade and learn the game quicker that way. Characters wont suck and get stuck if you go that direction instead of nerfing stuff and this new Jewel system with Exalted Orb Drop rate.. How is new people even going to build toward the jewel spots in the skill tree if they cant find a jewel theirselves and dont have time to trade?

Would be nice with some good changes aswell you know..

Peace

So if level 90 content is added eventually, you want to keep your ilvl 77-79 mods as the best possible?

yes. if they fix desync but replace it with power creep... why bother? i'll quit without even seeing act 4.

Good Riddance?

Power Creep is coming and is inevitable. Whether it happens in 2.0 or 3.0, it WILL happen.

Get over it or move on.
