I wish when someone thought "unbiased feedback" it didn't mean invite 400-700 random people from a pool of about 1 million, throw in the 20 or so streamer keys, and just wait with a lotto box. Interesting they would abandon the very people the beta tested the original game before the mass appeal, before garena bought shares, before the fucking shadow. Just feels like Chris and group gave us all* the bird after 3+ years of support.

You might be missing the point of "unbiased feedback". Yes, supporters who tested the original beta would definitely give some good feedback, but the value of feedback from newer users is just as high. An original beta tester will base everything that has been changed or updated on previous experiences and "how it used to be". This is fine, and there is value in that, but feedback from players who aren't carrying 3+ years of "GGG killed my caster" baggage are vital to making these changes in 2.0 good for everyone. You aren't being abandoned. GGG wants to give us the best game they can, let them do that! The hipster mentality that drives this "original beta testers should have priority" nonsense will only hinder the improvement of this game.
will there be live streaming?

so will the beta be hardcore? also will there be new challenge leagues when act 4 comes out?

The only way to get unbiased feedback is through an unbiased, random process. Giving a specific group preferential access is intentionally introducing bias. So the automatic passes for alpha testers and streamers is in violation of that. But ultimately it's not nonsensical, or even problematic. You want whatever fashion of experienced and expert opinions that you can get, and these are most reasonably found amidst those who have been with the game a long time or have made themselves a meaningful presence as an expert in the eyes of the greater community. In other words, the alpha testers and streamers, respectively. These are also the people you would most expect to quickly and easily find serious issues, exploits, and bugs, which you want and need to eliminate quickly, before they can have serious consequences among the full playerbase.

After you have the expert opinions, the only way to get unbiased statistical data is a random sample.

Of course, as with all statistical data involving actual human beings, the ideal is never achievable. There will always be reporting biases as a result of basic human nature: those with strong opinions are far more likely to respond than those who do not, people who think someone else has already expressed their views are much less likely to speak up about their opinions, etc. This is why game forums are inevitably filled almost entirely with hateful screeds or eternally gushing love at every change in the game. Those with more mild opinions simply don't see the point in showing up and fighting to get their views accepted. They don't really have anything to bitch about, and they don't really have anything to gush about, so they just go about their business and play as they please. But the people who hate something show up in droves.

And if GGG has come under the impression that, say, alpha testers and streamers are, by and large, more strongly representative of this silent majority, but without the silence, then all the more reason to give them immediate access. I don't know if they have, but it's not wholly implausible.
wow,

just saw one of the video "Path of Exile: The Awakening (News Coverage)", the new jewel for the passive skill tree is a clever idea.

That's really why this feels so negative, Chris has been replying to things on reddit this whole time, but won't address the vast majority of poe's community that has been excluded by the way this beta is being done on the official forums.

No matter how many people make light or fun of the players of this community who really are upset about this, it's not going to convince anyone that they don't have the right to be upset that they were excluded.

GGG dropped the ball for quite a few of their biggest fans with the way this has been handled, there is nothing for so many of us to do right now but feel excluded. Quite a few posts here feel the same:

WE DON'T WANT TO WATCH SOMEONE ELSE PLAY AND DISCOVER NEW CONTENT AND SPOIL IT FOR US.

So the lack of any temp league or response from GGG regarding the other 90% of us just alienates us further. May as well not be associated with poe at all for awhile.

I joined in July of 2012, and I've bought three supporter packs, and I honestly have always felt that GGG does care a lot about their community and their fans, I felt like I was a part of this community, like my individual contribution meant something, and maybe just being such a big fan I have been delusional, cause current evidence suggests no one at ggg really cares much about addressing the rest of us.

I haven't cared or been so disappointed about a game since diablo3. Hopefully there is some sympathy for those of us who are so frustrated in the next few days, cause I really think that'd help.
