What happens when Closed Beta starts tomorrow?

Eh, I don't think any of the SC players are losing that much damage anyway, they can, if I exaggerate it, get enough damage with just basic attacks. I liked freezing pulse not so much for the extra damage from shotgun(though it was obviously essential for single targeting beefy targets) but rather for extra freeze chance with each additional projectile. That didn't change(or maybe it did, another one of my wrong assumptions, doesn't matter), but it will be hard to use GMP unless GGG get rids of the harsh dmg penalty - at least for spells - that, I assume, is still present there. In any way, lot of these projectile spells might be fun to try with that nova staff.

I am only curious how the increase in difficulty is going to work with direct changes to well-known and reliable damage mitigation methods as I want to think of myself as mainly HC player... and racer.

I've always theorycrafted my builds in long-term leagues towards survivability mainly, I hate myself for having quite a few bad assumptions about some niche mechaniques that turned out to be "placebo effects" for me, they worked to some extent still but eh.
I guess it's going to be interesting finding out new effective methods to mitigate damage again, provided there are any, and if they are not and HC leagues turn into real challenge, I won't complain! It will be same for everyone. Even better if GGG finally decides to run some week/1-month races that WOULDN'T be party focused, in fact my sincere wish is for them to be solo with trading and partying disabled. But that's for another topic.

Revamp to gem rewards is the main reason I want to get in beta, I would hate starting new race season without proper adaptation to new meta. Now that I've said it I will probably be selected in last weeks when there isn't many people left to choose from, hah. Which is not necessarily bad, at least I don't have to confuse myself with previous iterations, but that sounds like I am not suited for beta anyway, oh well.
ProjectPT was right.

Tornado Shot (and all other arrow skills) already have the non-shotgunning behaviour. This change will have no functional effect on Tornado Shot.

at least we can still use OP tornado shot lol

It's not the skill that's OP... it's the un-self-findable, end-game gear sets which trades put together after a couple of weeks that makes the skill OP... as with all skills deemed OP... as always

Play the game with what you find, nothing is OP, except the monsters. But yeah, for Tornado Shot go buy yourself a 5 or 6 link 300+ pDPS bow with 7.5%+ base crit.... yep... skill is OP.
curious to see how EB works. sounds like you can go CI and ghost reaver and it's basically blood magic for energy shield (just leech back your life and reserve all your mana) which sounds OP. but then life based builds will fundamentally change...you would either have to ghost reaver or use zealot's oath with tons of life regen. sounds like that feels really clunky for life builds though.

also curious to see how spells that thrived off shotgun will be reworked. i really liked that some spells could shotgun and others couldn't. felt more diverse that way (and freezing pulse just looks awesome with multiple projectiles). shooting a single weenie freeze pulse always felt like low level scrub tier :P

everyone seems to be asking about mjolner nerf...? where was this even said, I don't understand the panic there.

Horrible changes to all the projectiles. this means that they destroyed all ranged shotgun builds or rather all ranged builds wiith gmp, lmp or alike will get wrecked completely.

they clearly did not think this through....

spectral throw, dead,
incinerate, dead
tornado shot, dead
and tons more....
Two of the three you named are attacks, and thus already couldn't shotgun and aren't affected by this at all.

And for people talking about how Spark's dead, it, like spectral throw, has a mechanic that makes it "forget" everything it's hit, it still has that (although the exact details of that mechanic will probably need to change over the course of beta, since the removal of shotgunning means that's a shared memory and all sparks will lose it when one bounces - i.e. this is making each spark more able to hit the same target again)

And this is why people speculating about balance at this point is rather moot. I'm kinda exceited about the death of shotgunning. Mean's the buffs are gonna be siick.

So streamers have priority over every one else. That's fucking stupid GGG. People who bought supporter packs should have priority WE ARE SUPPORTING YOU!
99% of the people here just think about themselves and their sacred build which they see vanish.

What we SHOULD care about is : will the new PoE attract new players? Making normal difficulty harder and changing keystones is something that looks like rocket science won't help that aspect. Just my two cents. We should care about new players because they will provide income for GGG to create new attractive content, which is then good for many of us veterans. 40 pages of QQ without anyone slightly caring about this makes me feel extremely worried GGG will fail to see that prime issue as well.
Personally I love the complexity of PoE, that's teh main reason I love it, but we can't ignore this aspect.

I have no idea how all of this feedback even exists - most of the more interesting patch notes either don't make sense or are super vague. Is there another thread on this stuff?
How is the new eldrich battery gonna work with arctic armour? does the energyshield get damaged? whats with mind over matter and how is this gonna work with dicipline?
