Auction House idea

Yeah, but their reasons don't ever seem to address that we already have an auction house that you can alt-tab to access.

(automatic indexing and sorting of buyable items is by far the most timesaving aspect to any trade system, potentially taking out hours of work per item; if you really contend that saving 1-2 mins and some aggravation per item is going to break the game, then I have a tinfoil hat for you, sir)

Anyhow, GGG won't do it, shrug, can always play a game with better-facilitated trading.

yeah, if poe.xyz is already around, why not let all players access a user-friendly in-game version of a similar trading system?

There will be a new trading system, possibly out with act 4.
SO many posts wasted on this same topic...

People need to understand basic economics... adding an Auction House WILL NOT make you rich by being able to sell drops easier, it will just devalue everything dropped.... If you can sell drops easier so can everyone else which will just flood the market... a short while later everyone will be running around with the best gear out there extremely cheap, making the game way too easy and making drops pointless.... Instead just pray to the RNG gods and you will find what you need to play the game...

People get ripped off in unregulated trading as it happens now?? so what? with no underlying currency (gold or whatever) a barter system rules... if one person chooses to pay 5 chaos for an item that they believe they need when the overall consensus of the server is that it is "valued" at 2C then so what? they gained an item they wanted for an amount that they were willing to exchange, that's how a barter works...

and besides, currency is gained from RNG so it doesn't really have a set value across the board anyway... one lvl 50 player may have only ever had 5 chaos drop for them, when another had 25, that's how it works....

Auction House gets a no from me....

In the fresh new league you gonna be "rich" by starting new character then buy gems/unique items? Hax chaos? maybe .... Even so ... is the same result of without Auction Hall(current) situation =_="

u saying the player is despo ... is the same with when Auction Hall available, i would buy many orbs at high amount to save time even some ppl sell small at cheapest price ... you don't even know the purpose of Auction Hall ....

as i mention above .... you still dono the real purpose of Auction Hall ...

Let me stress out ... reason of Auction Hall to be made is to:
1. Make ppl more convenient on doing trading
2. Didn't easily get scam by "experience" sellers/buyers (especially those "BUYcheap-SEllexpensive" players)
3. Player easier to check item price, no need shout time on time in global for p/c anymore
4. (if MAIL system available)Player able to contact the buyers to purchase the the wanted items from Auction Hall seller to nego price
5. No more missing "opportunities" on selling/buying items when you have Auction Hall, i mean like ppl wanted to sell the item and got ppl wanna buy but sadly he offline ady, then buy from other ppl .... loosing customer, but with AH available, no more problem of this.

So you prefer a trading game with no means to trade fast and efficiently? And you never heard of poe.trade i guess.
POE trade system would be called the bartering system. One side of me would love to have an auction house because having to wait for someone to log in that has an item I would like to purchase is annoying. Another problem is that on Hardcore league, there simply are not many people willing to log over to the league and sell you items they have posted.
The bottom line is you can crap in one hand and wish in the other. Whether or not GGG has hardware to sustain the added data storage or it is a pseudo moral thing with them, if it hasn't happened yet it probably won't.

Ya kinda understand GGG situation too, if they manage to own a better hardware, surely can fix the desync problem already long ago
---dono what happened double post ---
Game already has an auction house, it's called poe.trade. All arguments assuming we don't currently have auction house are invalid.

The current auction house was developed and is maintained by a third party at no expense to GGG. If you think GGG is going to make their own auction house... lol no. At best, they might add some simple web-based features as new datapoints for a third-party site to latch onto. But as long as third parties are willing to do the work free, GGG isn't spending money on that shit.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Well that's the purpose of this thread for ... we want Auction Hall in this game! Mostly players dono PoE.trade exist especially solo newbies ...

WE do not want an "auction hall". Speak for yourself.

We have one. Two, actually - see below.

Trading for profit is already easy enough as-is. Market manipulation by the "elite" class in PoE would become even EASIER and MORE of a monopoly were automatic trade systems to be added to the game.

No, it wouldn't. There's not much more to say than that. You assume it would, but you and others discount the fact that the existing third party system is saving you potentially hours of staring at trade chat just to get any *one* item, and presuming that 1-2 minutes faster access to indexed items and cross-instance trading would ruin the market irrevocably.

Bunkum. Rot. Nonsense.

We already have an auction house for currency too. It's called the noticeboard (and it's faster even than poe.trade, generally, although limited by instances rather than world-spanning).

I'd also like to pose a few questions here: what would you do, and what would you expect other players to do, if the guy running poe.trade shut down his website 5 minutes from now? Would the effects on the market be his fault, or GGG's fault? Alternatively, what effect on the market and the game do you think poe.trade being infected by a trojan would have?

Both are feasible occurrences in the fullness of time.
