Are you looking at the Attack Speed for Frenzy?

The Skill Frenzy gains bonus Damage and Attack Speed based on how many Frenzy Charges you have. That's what the Skill description says. It does not make Frenzy Charges more powerful; your other skills do not gain the additional Damage and IAS.
No I was looking at the AS for my character. My attack speed with either frenzy gem is the same when I have 5 charges

So regardless of having either 45% IAS or 75% IAS, my attack speed is 2.84

Every skill has its own sheet, accessed by clicking the icons on the Character Sheet. Frenzy will show a higher Attack Speed than the Default Attack, because it gains more IAS per Frenzy Charge.

I understand that... my base attack speed with haste is 2.49. With either frenzy at 5 charges, my attack speed is 2.84. What I'm trying to understand is why my attack speed is at 2.84 regardless of which frenzy I use.
Because of this:

Frenzy Charges are Frenzy Charges. They aren't (anc can't possibly be) any different to any other frenzy charge.
One of your frenzy gems has higher quality, and as a result, gains more bonus to attack speed and damage for each charge you have.

Your default attack is not that frenzy skill, does not have it's quality bonus, so does not benefit from it.
Oooo okay

Oooo... I'm retarded. This entire time I was assuming the attack speed from frenzy was applied as the frenzy charge, didn't realize the charges had a static attack speed. Thanks for clearing up the confusion.

Forgive me, but all my Searches about how Energy Shield works and the mechanics behind it are returning all relevant information except what I am actually looking for. What I would like a definitive confirmation on is so fundamental to Energy Shield that it is difficult to just search for the answer. Help me out by confirming my thought below?

Am I correct in my understanding that...

Unlike Health, Evasion, and Strength/Dexterity/Intelligence nodes, which boost a character's intrinsic (so like, naked, with no gear or anything) stats, Energy Shield nodes are completely dependent on whether or not a character is wearing/using gear that provides Energy Shield.

That is, ES is not intrinsic to a naked character. A character who has a total of "+50% ES" still has zero hit points in his energy shield if he is not wearing any gear that provides ES in the first place.

I imagine Armor also works in this way? Armor bonuses don't mean anything unless you are actually utilizing gear that provides base armor points?

Does Block work the same way? Like, it only really matters if you are Dual Wielding or are equipping a Shield? Or is there -- like Evasion -- an intrinsic chance to block even as a "naked" character?

My confusion may seem completely noobish, but I am genuinely confused. If anyone knows the official mechanic terminology for what I am describing, would you please also enlighten me? (I am, for clarity's sake, using words like "naked," "intrinsic," "dependent on type of gear" ... I have encountered a lot of shorthand on the forums i do not understand, so I might have overlooked an answer to my question by not understanding what a poster was saying.) Thanks so much for humoring this very basic question. I feel a little stupid about being confused about it. But I cannot figure out why my characters are all dying as soon as I hit Act 3. I MUST not be understanding something about my gear. I can't be THAT terribe a player!
sorry, duplicate post

actually, how can i delete it so it doesn't even show up and waste space? PM me?

A completely naked character has no Block, no ES, no Armor. Without gear, bonuses to those stats are entirely wasted. You will have Evasion though, as you mention.

Also, there's no deleting of posts :) Just gotta live with it.

As for dying on Act 3: Resistances are great, and you can't live without Life bonuses.
