7 Aura EB Summoner:

What do you think of this build, i know it doesnt have a couple of the added zombie/skele/spectre talents, but at my level; 57 i dont have a problem with the dmg my minions are doing, i went a different route and got more life than your build which comes to 286% life, plus i got most of the resists which are close by, i guess they could be redistributed to the minion nodes if you had high enough resists at end game. let me know what you think :D

I am level 64 with a EB build.

Doing merciless just fine at a pace I am happy with.

I am just trying to decide whether to get more HP nodes first or go for double curse. Leaning towards curse.

Only thing that sucks in this build is you really have to pay attention to ranged attacks because you will get 2 shot if not paying attention.

How is your survivability OP? I know you went the more HP route.

First of all I'd like to say thanks for the build, I've been enjoying it quite a bit. I'm curious though on everyone's thoughts regarding midnight bargain for this build. Since we take EB our only defense seems to be our large life pool, so I'm wondering if the 30% life reserve is worth the extra summons, minion damage, and speed. Maybe someone who has tried it, or is currently using it, could offer some insight. Thanks!

I'm using Midnight Bargain on my 74 EB summoner. I used a Queen's Decree for a long time since MB is pretty hard to find and both setups work. The main reason I wanted to use MB is because it lets me use a caster shield with Necromantic Aegis to make my flame sentinel spectres even higher dps. My current shield is just a decently rolled blue with 49% spell damage and 81% spell crit, ideally I'd have something similar that also has hp and resists or a big energy shield mod to make my pets even tankier.

Doing maps with 1900 health and no energy shield definitely kills me sometimes, mainly against big packs of the snakes that shoot spines, fire golems, and alchemists. But overall I probably die once every 3-4 maps on average the way I typically play. If I'm more careful and use a defensive curse instead of flammability and I'm more patient about letting my summons clear dangerous rooms ahead of me it's relatively safe. When I do maps with the intent of exping (rather than being a bit reckless to clear faster) I hardly ever die, and it's generally in situations where I probably would have died even with the 30% more health.

With so many of my item slots giving me zero or very low health/resists (Sidhebreath, Bones of Ullr, MB, shield) it makes getting very good gear in your other slots very important. Currently my rings, belt and 5l armor are all very well rolled for defensive stats, but my +2 minion helm has 0 health and only 15% lightning resist on it, and my gloves have ~45 health and no resists. Once I replace those ill probably be sitting at around 2400 health even with Midnight Bargain, and my resists should all be pretty solid.

Overall I'd say that Midnight Bargain is nice, but since it also costs a fortune compared to Queen's Decree, I'd put it off until the rest of your gear is pretty decent and you've got the exalteds to spare. Also a lot of people try charging even higher prices for Bargains with a high damage roll, but as a summoner you have such a minion damage modifier from passives and gems that a few extra percent on MB are pretty insignificant.
So my main questions are:

1. How much hp/mana are you sitting on at your level?

2. How much mana do you have after all auras are up?

3. Is your mana regen capable of allowing you to spam a spell (say arc for shock debuff for example)? In case you want to play with group and don't use your summons.

4. What type of armors do you look for? Pure es? armor/es? eva/es?

5. You said every 1% above 83% resists reduces the damage you take by loads. How do you get above 80% resist. Even with the passive that adds 5% to max resist, my tooltip still only shows 80% Edit: nvm I see purity adds to max resist, how much +max resist are you getting with high level purity plus inner force?

6. Are there any auras you do not max?

I really like the idea of this build, I just have my doubts as to the survival in end game maps. It seems like you will have very low hp, no armor or evasion, and rely completely on your minions to take the hits for you. Yes, I know, a good summoner won't take dmg. But we all know that is a load of crap. There are just some mobs that have abilities that ARE going to hit you every now and then.

I would love to know the answers before I start a summoner. Thanks alot for taking the time to post your build.

For the starting area, wouldn't this:
http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMBB2MI9DGIO-FXK20Zc1N5A4t6pyvAVOL35oE=

be more efficient than this:
http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMBB2MI9BFQMYg74VcrbRlzU3kDu9bAVOaB
?

Sure, it takes one point more, but you get additional 26 % energy shield and one useless 10 % recovery speed node less.
Got this build before you posted it
(damn near same than me ...)
and i do some test (Other account lvl 81)

Tips:

- Lighning + elemental proliferation will up your dps like hell
- No double curse needed when you can shock them easily
- Get some dex node (instead of your useless energy shield recovery speed)for dex aura
- Focus on stuff = Life + Armor + elemental resist + rarity (More you stay alive more you can summon)
- DONT focus on energy shield stuff (focus on armor stuff (some have energy shield attached)
- You dont need spell damage (shock + summons) will rape all things
- Get ullur boots for 3rd specter and bargain if you have enough hp to survive (4 specter = op)

Get the lignhing shock nodes ;)

you make some mistake on your build (you can have better optimisations)
but the core is great :)

Is this build viable for HC?

I've got a level 50 Templar running 4 auras + summons currently(wrath/+armor/+ES/clarity). I'm in HC cruel just finished Vaal.

Everything seems to be running smoothly but I do feel like I'm a bit squishy.

I'm also a little confused as to when and if I should be leveling up my aura gems... I don't want to nuke my mana pool - and I'm not sure when auras get diminishing returns.

Which aura should I attach reduced mana to?
Since this build has quite a bit of life for survival, and Vitality is % based regen, wouldn't it be a good synergistic aura to fit in? You'd recover over 15% of your life over 10secs when the gem's fully leveled, seems pretty useful to have constantly. Would mean a bit less zombies exploding but it'd help keep precious fire spectres alive too.
Dragon585:
Spoiler
1. How much hp/mana are you sitting on at your level?
A:About 3500 HP and 3300 MP. this value of curse means nothing and is from items. Again i would like to mention my items are not good. if you want better compression with other similar builds you need to look at the Maximum Life Increased Percentages etc.

2. How much mana do you have after all auras are up?
A: About 500 mana with just one reduced mana support gem used for Haste and Purity. My discipline gem is only lv18 at LV77 so the more you level this, it also adds to your mana. But if you really want easier time then just use more then one reduced mans support gem. Some one else asked if i could at some point run 8 aura and if you wanted it and geard for it. you can run 8 aura. so mana is not the issue with EB.

3. Is your mana regen capable of allowing you to spam a spell (say arc for shock debuff for example)? In case you want to play with group and don't use your summons.
A: I have 150 Mana Regen roughly. if i want i can get more with other combination of rings. i seen mine go as high as 196.

4. What type of armors do you look for? Pure es? armor/es? eva/es?
A: the answer to this is not easy, if you want really fast 7Aura, you need some sort of ES which in turn gets converted to mana. If you are not in rush you can use Armor/ES mix till your gems have leveled. Gloves/Boots/Helm can be anything if you want you can even go full Armor.

5. how much +max resist are you getting with high level purity plus inner force?
A: you will get 5% from purity because of inner focus.

6. Are there any auras you do not max?
A: I max everything asap but if you have mana reserve problems. you can stop leveling Clarity. i didnt have any problem. i used ES chest, then gloves i went from Armor or what ever good part i found.

Other Info:
The only thing that can kill me is Corpse explosion which is easy fix, dont stand near dead monster with high HP.

Everything else, that can hit you, like flicker strike then discharge mobs or leap slam or charge etc. they will not kill you. you just need to have some instant hp pots for OH SHIT moments. there will be those moments for sure but you will not die. with good gear this build will have around 5k life around lv80. that is more then enough to not die.

I did answer this already and it is in the original post. Yes the other route can be better, since it gives more ES which is your mana but after you have enough mana, why would you need more mana?

Like i said before to this question/suggestion i had the route you suggested to start with till a point that i had enough mana and then i went back the other way.

Ecka:

I agree with just about everything you said, except i wanted this to be level 80 Build which can be done really fast. If i was to make this level 90-100 etc the build will change slightly. but for level 80 i think it is optimized to a point that it can not be changed any more.

Spud1111:

Yes summoner is very viable build for hardcore league. To put it bluntly hardcore is simple, all you need is Armor/hp/resist. If you willing to wait back and farm the gear little bit before jumping full steam head then any build which has those 3 things is HC league viable.

Vantana:
Spoiler
Yes this will work too and i would consider this personal preference. i use haste+purity atm since i need resist and i want haste so my minions move faster and don't mind re-summoning them. You might find your self in different situation to me. the build is flexible, run anything that makes the game more fun for you and makes you want to play more. As long as it is not killing you directly (IE: low resist etc) then you will be fine.

Side Note:
Spoiler
I haven't played this build for while now; not because it is bad or weak etc but purly for the reason that i just wanted a change since i tend to get bored very fast when the map farming starts.

The fun part of PoE for me is when i can think of build on paper and then do it in the game. but once the build is completed. i get bored of it and need to go back and do something new.

For that reason i haven't been reading this thread that much so apologies for replying to some of the questions rather slow.

With a large(ish) health pool and no quickly regenerating ES buffer, and no life regen nodes, just wondering how you sustain yourself, are pots enough? Or do you have some health regen on gear to top up after small damage?

Just trying to get an idea if I want to switch to EB or not, if I have to constantly pot after every little hit then it might annoy me.

Though I have to get more health on gear before I switch, 1.7k health and over 1k ES at level 64. Losing that 1k would really make me suffer as I am now.
