Auras: They do help, They are not as good as having them on players but keep in mind we have 8 zombies, 13 skeletons, 2 specters, that is 23 minion without any unique items. If Elemental dmg did 100% rather then 50% we (summoners) would be OP just for the fact we have so many things following us. For me it was simple choice, I asked myself what can i add to my summoner that would add damage, Answer Auras. then i was like ok i want that. i didn't try to think if it was worth it or not. i just wanted more damage regardless of everything else. More STR for Hatred: I honestly dont think this is good idea but i never tried it. you have invested so many points on being a summoner that no matter what skill or attack you pick, it will do horrible damage. 6: IF you do run purity like you said you wanted to, Resist is not issue so if you are getting body and soul just for that then ignore those keystone. atm i have 78% res in everything (not chaos) and my gear is not even good (with purity). 8: this is what i want to test to be sure, atm i dont think it dose but it is hard to tell. what i been doing is summon one zombie alone and time a kill on one mob then take the gem out and try again. I was doing this yesterday, i honestly cant tell if it helps or not. if it dose it is not huge gain. ATM i use, minion Life, minion Damage, Minion Speed, i wouldn't want to change them. however what i want this [faster attack] is for specters since they cant have minion speed (they are capped). But then i thought, my specters die anyway what happens if i have to pick caster minion in maps. A) do i carry gems with me and keep changing them or B) use something that helps every type of specter i take. i choose option B. This is a noob question, but how can you equip all seven auras when there's only so many skill slots in the interface, I'm sure I must be missing something here.

This lets you rotate through all your auras to turn them on, and then you can change your hotkey to another ability if you want to. Here i aim for no auras for summons -> hence no leadership, and assuming that +crit nodes apply to spells (Bloodthirst/Throatseeker), i can squeeze out quite nice "damage" at least i guess i can, cuz most damage improving nodes has been taken: There is a drawback: no survival nodes at all. What iam wondering if it is worth to try, since this would require ambiguous gear: either +lightning/spell bonuses or something for summons (but still cant figure out what it could be? +1 to summon gems, but its just one stat to look for, so plenty of space for other stats, maybe for +spell damage...). Moreover: its kinda big investment into damage nodes and looking at my minions and how they smite enemies, i wouldnt have many chances to cast a spell at all... Sorry but that build is not at all viable for endgame. You will get oneshot over and over again by anything you come across that can hit you with an AOE, leap attack, piercing projectile, etc. not to mention any time you move forward and something charges you before your minions intercept it, or you have even a small lag spike. Even with absolutely ideal items that give you all the dps stats you want on top of high life/ES/resists, without any max life percentage passives your total HP+ES will not be enough.
On an unrelated note: Have any people with high level auras tested to see how large of a radius they have on their own? I'm looking to save the 3 points that improve aura radius if I can get away with it. I've been able to exp in merciless act 3 and solo a few maps just fine at 66 and with quality minion gems and a +2 helm my pets seem to be very survivable as it is. | |
Im pretty sure u can get away with it, actually this is what im planning to do also, sinca i lately noticed that +quality increases aura range. So high level aura skillgems with quality should be enough ;)

First of all I'd like to say thanks for the build, I've been enjoying it quite a bit. I'm curious though on everyone's thoughts regarding midnight bargain for this build. Since we take EB our only defense seems to be our large life pool, so I'm wondering if the 30% life reserve is worth the extra summons, minion damage, and speed. Maybe someone who has tried it, or is currently using it, could offer some insight. Thanks!
