[1.1.5]PewPewPews Cheap Starter Friendly Surge Trapper | Working on 1.3!

After i bought my deer, i also found one, but it's only 2 socket, so i was not mad. :D

This is my current (lvl59) gear, most of the items are selfounded (except deer and sunblast), I was lucky with the gems too. (I found an empower lol)



And lvl1 cwd - with lvl5 frost wall and enduring cry in my stash, but no links for them. :/
maybe i glazed over it but why do you not have trap gem linked to flame surge? is there something im missing? i cant get multitrap to work with flame surge on its own.

EDIT: Sorry totally forgot about the deestalker boots. Carry on, nothing to see here.

Hey pew! I'm looking to use this as my first build, I usually level up to a decent level and then farm piety and then farm dom. I'm guessing this build is not very suitable for that?
I'm lvl69 now, and do easily a maps. fire traps close to 1 hit everything, if not, the burn dmg kills them all.

I'm 'fully' selfound, I mean, I got the pyre from my climber friend, so..

Armor bought from NPC, and I toss AN alch on it. : D Not that good, but whatever.

Mokou's found on map, it's 'minimal stat', but it's better than my old ring, I think i toss a divine on, if I found one.

Acculy i was lucky today. Bought this armor from npc, than I 1-fused a 6 socket eva chest, what i found on map - ba dum tss - 5 link (I always 1-fused all of the 6 socket armor what i find).

I found 4x66, 5x67 and 4x68 map on 3 lvl66 map, also a cartographer mastert.

But let's see my current equipment:


Also I'm lvling immortal call, I think I will use immortal call + desecrate + totem + cwdt in 4link.

Very nice - I managed to get up to act 3 merci but I really need to work on my gear and links now as its all just a bit random.

this is my gear atm in Standard, playing this build with a few variations of gems etc. i found devouring totem really unreliable so am just running a standard cwdt set up and im running Discipline ontop of clarity just for a bit more survivability.



Currently just leveling gems and saving for 6l Carcass jack. this spec is really safe and fast if you play it right and once you get some ele/spell damage on gear the damage is awesome too!
I think that totem works very well, it saved my shiny ass so many times, and actually i'm casting it manually, I hope my cwdt gem hit that lvl, when I linked to my desec, immort, devour totem.

Also I upgraded my shield and wep.


And finally colored to RGBB my boots.
3,5k tooltip dps right now on flame surgem and 1,7k on fire trap (1k burniing dam atm).
Is the leveling breakdown in the OP still valid for 1.2? If not, around what level ranges would you suggest heading toward which parts of the tree? An in depth breakdown isn't necessary; a general guideline would be helpful.

I've been wanting to try a trapper for a long while now, and after a three day mistake of buying and playing D3 I can't think of a better time.

So, Pewpew, how is this build now in 1.2 ? I am considering playing this build in the Beyond league.
I'm lvl77 now, and I just finished my first 'higher' map. Lvl 72 Waste pool. Rare, 20% quality, 10x% quantity, with elemental weakness, fast mobs, extra dmg as lgt, shocked ground, mods, or smth like that (shocked ground + elemental weakeness 100%)

75/66/73 resist on the map. :)
~3,5k life
~450 ES
~800 mana
79% ignite chance with flammability

It was easy. :P
