Cheap, Tanky, DPSy: Summon Raging Spirit [not updated for 1.3+]
Is it better to get a 6L first or get quality gems first for your 5 link staff?
I am currently sitting with OK gear, and have a couple exalted saved up to either got for some 20q gems or try and get a white 6L staff. What would be the most beneficial? Or is there something else I should aim for? Gear below if interested:

I am considerign a SRS build with my next character in Rampage. Two questions:
1) Why is CI not recommended? I understand it because this build is using AA. But besides that. 2) Would a hybrid traditional summoner/SRS work well or will it be a "Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none" ? Since you already get that many minions nodes anyway. |

" I will start with second question Summoner / srs build look so tanky and dps will be still crazy but problem is we have no place to put summoner gems. If you read thread again you will see all of sockets full. Of course you can drop spell totem - arc setup. Maybe you can add zombie and minion life First question, CI characters generally have life leech. But srs builds have no life leech! You can't use pots, no life leech, In hard times gg |

Kinda agree, my chaos res is so bad that i thought a lot about CI. But the new pots are so good now, like 1k+ hp instant recovery... The life build seems so much safer. It's maybe even better than the very expensive low life version.
And yes i'm still using zombies, but only a 2l zombies cause i can't put all auras yet. It's only a distraction for when i see lots of jumpers or for some bosses. I'm missing discipline, planning to include it later when i have an alpha, i have one leveling though, i tested it, with my tree i could have 1.3k shield more i think not game changing. My gear isn't awesome, i'm in rampage so the budget is still short. I put most of my wealth in my staff which is now +3 5l6s (got the +3 for 3ex, and spent like 5ex of components to 5l6s it). Currently running clarity on mana cause it took too big of a toll on my health. Next buy is probably alpha to add the last aura or a good chest. Yesterday i managed brutus, the +3 staff did the work, brute force seems to work. Thx for the tips for other bosses, I will try to use them. I'm still quite bad with pots management, i tend to spam them way to much when not really needed. I don't think i'll ever run double curse though unless totem curse on hit ever start to work, i have already too many things to cast and too few buttons on my bar. Oh and i saw on a video that you reallocated your left click to a spell, how do you move then? Last edited by Squirrel_of_doom#0086 on Sep 10, 2014, 4:19:27 AM

Does anyone tried 6L/5L white first and roll the affix? Right now rampage price is very expensive.
Giving out all my luck to my teammates D:

" I did, from a 6L base i paid 4ex at the start of the league, took me 32 regal attempts and about 10ex in crafting materials I have been lucky tho, statistically it's easier to go the other way around (6L a +3 staff) Bye |

I tried running a Hybrid SRS/Zombie/Spectre version of this build. It was kinda awesome up to level ~74 maps. At that point my Zombies just got wiped. I dropped the minion life and zombie nodes and went for some reduced mana reservation nodes. Also changed my +2 minion helmet for Alpha's Howl and equipped a Lightning Coil. It's pretty hard to maintain a reasonable lifepool while capped resists and stacking up mana regeneration. The transition did cost me ~600 Life which brought me back to 3.4k. However, physical damage is not a big threat anymore (even less when I get my AA to level 20).
I'll keep you updated if you guys are interested in a Lighting Coil setup. |

See mattc's guide for a zombie summoner with SRS.
My build is pure SRS because I believe you can achieve maximum DPS by dropping other summons for more auras/curses/FO/EE/VH. I don't include zombie or specter because there are no sockets left, and the things we sacrifice are IMO more beneficial than zombies or specters. I also believe zombie/specters are useless for survivability in the sense that eventually you'll get hit anyways, and if you rely on zombies instead of ES+Life+Mitigation you will die when you get hit. If you're having trouble it's because you're not reading OP in detail. The ES/hybrid is a end-game build that requires you to have L20 gems, and the right gear. Until then you can use eldritch battery. Also I think lightning coil isn't a good option for us at all. In a pure life build (see AlexUngur's thread in scion) belly of the beast provides more survivability. For a life/es build a es armor provides way more survivability than lightning coil. "With certain spells you move just fine, and you hold shift to cast it. With other spells (auras, traps, ...?) the game assumes you want to cast it when actually all you wanna do is move. " FWIW that build is now movingly slowly towards pure SRS with a Life/ES hybrid setup. Minions are mostly being pushed down to "an okay distraction until end-game maps and then they're just not worth it." But, if people are interested in a hybrid setup than they should definitely check out that thread. I personally still use a skeleton + spell totem setup at lvl 70 as I don't yet have the ability to run Hatred full time and can't yet maximize an arc + spell totem + EE setup.
