Oh, PLEASE... make selectively clicking on an enemy optional
+1 for continuous attack while holding shift in melee range.

There's some playability issues I'm immediately seeing upon entering the world.
Mainly, the 'right click driving' that was mentioned. I used this form of attacking almost exclusively in Diablo 2/Torchlight/etc.. I suffer from CTS/RSI and repeated clicking, especially precision clicking, is harmful to my wrists. The more I have to click, the faster pain develops. Aside from that; this feature prevents the hassle of trying to click on things to target them over and over. You just hold the button down and away your character goes. It will prevent a lot of frustration while playing. I won't be able to play for long if this feature is not part of the game. Hopefully the developers will consider adding it soon. There's a few other playability/usability issues I have with the game, but this is the most important one. I don't mean to sound rude, but I can't help the way people interpret my words.

+1 for that!
after a while of playing different charackters, i think the lack of this feature is one more thing that discriminates melee-chars against rangers and witches. they CAN simply leave the finger on the mousebutton, and if a monster shows up, all the have to do is hitting shift AND THEY DONT HAVE TO AIM (very precise)! the current mechanics gets really frustrating for a melee in a partyplay with a witch that spams novas of any kind: 1) i have sometimes real problems to see enemys through the nova-effects, so problems aiming 2) if u aim a monster or a enemy and get there, the nova/spell/(or even arrows) may have already killed it. 3) you were tanking with endurance cry and taking all the damage, but because u really have problems hitting, u wont get ll/ml or killing-blows to refill ure flasks. all for the witches/rangers whom i spend some ll/ml/refills/endurancecharges on top, cause i also use warlords mark... dumbass melee... really frustrating, and holding "shift" and spamming my sweep without moving or aiming at all cant be the solution. just my 3 cents... I agree, this feature is a must!

"This isn't true. If ranged characters don't aim and just spray and pray, mobs will close in on them. They have to click on the target to kill quickly without being forced to kite. To aim effectively without worrying about moving, you can simply hold shift and click on your target, then let go of shift. If you're ranged, you'll stand still and attack until the enemy is dead. If you're melee, you will move to the target and attack once you let go of shift. All classes can use this method to prevent moving on a mis-click. But if you hold click and attack without namelock, you never hit. This, I think, is unintended and a bug.

" Yeah, in pretty much every other hack'n'slash ARPG it usually auto targets any enemy in range of your attack, but only for melee weapons. So far, that's 2 playability issues that affect combat. I don't mean to sound rude, but I can't help the way people interpret my words.

" could be, but im sure they will still hit them (most of them are using aoe (multiples, novas) anyway). and with pierce-support... "Glattes Eis, ein Paradeis, für den, der gut zu tanzen weiß" - F. Nietzsche

"That's an invalid argument, because melee can spam AoE without aiming, as well. Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.

" i think we are both aware of the general and poe-specific differences between melee- and ranger/magic-aoe... especially regarding the area/angle (pierce/multiple) and the need of combat-movement in relation to the enemy (and there is something like knockback/flee, and melee-chars dont "spam" arrows or spells... huge difference). not to talk about the high critrates/attack-/castspeed and the overall damage-output of rangers and witches in poe... lets see what 0.93 brings (no double on bows, reduced damage-output on spells, if i got it right) and then talk again...
