Post "useless" Uniques?

Chimpanzee, honestly man, are you trolling?

Do you even know what uniques stand for in this game? Because I have a feeling you are totally clueless.

Crown of thorns on an iron will marauder who can't make it to PA works.

I've tried to plot out a skilltree for that, and it got really, really sketchy really fast. It turns out that if you want to be consistently at low life, you want really high ES from your tree, and all the best ES nodes are right next to Pain Attunement. Plus, if you try to actively avoid that area, it actually gets pretty hard to find things to take.

However, Crown of Thorns still has its endgame-ish use since Cast on Death got released. 0 health is still technically considered low life, so if you're in softcore and plan on using Cast on Death to farm Piety (which is surprisingly fast) then it's one of the best helmets you'll ever use, regardless of how close you are or aren't to Pain Attunement - the only other unique helmet that stands a chance at rivaling Crown of Thorns for such a build is Rime Gaze, which changes the spec around pretty significantly and is much harder to find in new leagues.

Hardcore league Crown of Thorns is kinda hard to use, though.

Hahah those CoD builds crack me up.

How fast did it get really sketchy for you, btw?

I didn't actually play the character; but in comparison to other theorycrafts I've done before, I could see that there was pretty much no way the character was going to be consistently at low life, have high enough strength to make Iron Will function, be far enough away from Pain Attunement to make Crown of Thorns worthwhile, AND have enough defenses to not fall over under a slight breeze.

Veil of the night. Absolute trash even at the level you can use it. My second choice would be Marylene's fallcy.

Both those unis will make any build significantly worse. Not only are you losing rare stats, you're making your build hugely weaker. They're worse than using no item.

Resolute Technique + Romira's Banquet + Cold Snap + Marylene's Fallacy to perma-freeze difficult bosses off adds doing the minimum required damage to freeze without the risk of killing the adds

So you're using it purely to weaken a build in a very temporary situation. I applaud the creativity but freezemine does the same thing far better. If the adds are blue you can't even permafreeze with that(well I guess you can switch it out again). I don't consider it a successful unique just because making a build significantly weaker is good in that very specific situation.

sad that you are actually wrong, lets say you have 500 life and take CI. it shows that you have 1 life but its still based off the 500.

Uh, isn't that what he said? He said that its based off of what your life would be if you weren't CI in which case eye of Chayula is a good choice.

Yeah. It is what I said. I don't know what it is with posters on these forums who will call you out for being wrong, when you're right.

On a related note, while Eye of Chaluya does make you immune to stun, it actually makes you more susceptible to duration on elemental status effects because it reduces your life by 20% (before Chaos Inoculation's bringing you to 1). I actually have a CI character that uses eye of chaluya and wanderlust for both immunities. I really want to use fairgrave's tricorne for the immunity to shock but the opportunity cost is too high, so I went with shock removal on flasks.

It would be better if you haven't posted this.

I know that not all uniques are supposed to be end-game viable, for example levelling items, but I specifically stated 'end-game' in my post.
Another quality ZAP! post.
I doubt people would consider many of these so useless, if they didn't drop from Merciless Dom+. Absolutely garbage from a 'appropriate content reward' perspective, though. I mean, it feels great when you drop a Wanderlust first time through Normal Act 1 in a new league, but stop dropping that shit when I'm trying to farm endgame. Context matters.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.

Not all of them are useless, but endgame, man.

Another BLOW post that is stupid.
i use a secret account because i am a politician that doesnt want the NSA to know i play poe.
Just got another one today. This dropped from a blue mob in Lunaris Temple with my level 69 ranger today:

Useful at most for a few levels with a new melee build.

The more PoE increases in patches the more unique trash is foisted on us. Sigh! :(
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.
