Well each power charge will give you 50% extra crit chance. So as soon as you build up 3, your crit chance will be higher than with the crit chance gem. Also applies to all your skills at that point, so you would get the extra crit for puncture/frenzy etc.
But obviously there is also a build up time to get the charges - your first few shots won't get the effect if your charges have ran out. So I'd say it's borderline over which is best if you only have 3 charges. As soon as you have 4 or more though, PCOC becomes much stronger. One thing that complicates matters is if you run assassins mark though, as that will let you build up charges by killing cursed mobs - so you could get the advantage of both. I tried just using Assassins mark for charge generation though and it isn't really sustainable, and especially in boss fights. On a vaguely related note though, on my Freezing pulse character I'm intending on not running PCOC on my main FP skill and will use ice spear - PCOC along with Assassin's mark for power generation. Wouldn't do it on a bow build though. |

Everyone swears by harbinger bows, I spent all my chaos on one with 50% crit base and didn't even come close to my current bow. Am I doing something wrong? At 56 I was looking to replace my bow because I was using a level 43 bow. I saw this bow for sale for cheap and it was way better than what I was using. I didn't have any leech at the time, so that downside didn't mean anything. Am I wrong in thinking that this bow goes endgame until I can get a six slot Harbinger bow with higher crit? I have four semi wasted passive points going to Piercing Shots, and I almost think this bow can be better than anything else because I can get because 100% pierce rate which will do a ton more damage on packs, but less on single target bosses, where it just depends on mechanics, so that fight just takes a little longer.

Not sure if this has come up, but wouldn't using the faster projectiles gem be useful with puncture just for that bit of extra damage? If not then maybe it could be used instead of something if you have less than a 6L.
