Sheer Frustration: 27 5L's later, no 6L...... Yes, Twenty-fucking-Seven 5L's.
" Exactly! I am currently running a spectral throw build with a 5L and I am not even looking to upgrade into 6L because I don't need it. Sure it would help me clear that map faster or kill this boss safer but as you said, that's the luxury that nobody really needs, it's just nice to have. I know that having a 6L feels great, I've had 2 of them. 1 I bought for my dual claw build and 1 I linked myself while trying to 5L it to re-sell. There are some builds that "requires" having a 6L but those build are usually the expensive ones you should not be looking at if you don't have the currency to handle that. I can see how getting 27 5L's can be frustrating, really really frustrating but it's RNG driven thing you can't do anything about, only hope that you roll the dice right. Well anyway, GGG is preparing an improovement to this as we speak. We knew that they were discussing this when Chris posted the question, if we'd use recipe "1.500 fusings for guaranteed 6L". I am looking forward to what they came up with but untill than, it's only luck that will save you from this 5L curse you are having. Don't focus too much on getting the 6L, I gave up on this focus when i threw 800 fusings at single oro's Sacrifice while getting 5L 8x. I just sold it as 5L and mooved on to another item, eventually I got the 6L when I was actually trying to 5L, the irony. kiwi nation

" People are such dicks. Some of them use to run builds that literally require 6L, shame on them. Others need it badly to improve character lategame. I may assure you the difference between 5 and 6L, while running +76 maps is huge, not to mention new 79s and Atziri. When all the gems are Q and all the items are above average, and the next step are high end/mirrored items, which not everyone can afford, 6L is the logical move to improve the character. And yes, at that stage of the game 6L is a must have. Not that you can't play without it, of course you can, but better have it. I find it strange anyone may argue about that. And most important, anyone may have whatever he wants, nevermind if it's needed, or not, if he's ready to invest in that. Don't drive a car, walk. Don't live in a house, stay in the tent. Call them luxuries, but not needed things and accept they are the evil deeds of Satan, sent to tempt your righteous soul. Amen. Anyway this thread derailed from poe's trash crafting, to something pretty ridiculous. This is a buff © 2016

" Because you know .... going through hundreds of miles within couple of hours does no require a car at all, you can easily walk and do that .... As well as living n a house/apartment isn't a requirement for having a good quality of life .... not at all. Dumb analogies are dumb :/. " thanks for just stating that it isn't required. ( And no, you can play without it at a decent speed ). EDIT @below : troll talking about feeding ? funny! SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading. Last edited by Fruz#6137 on Jun 4, 2014, 9:51:28 PM

Fruz you don't really need to use word dumb, as it's a self abuse in your case.
To feed you more, I can do high content with 3l only on a dual strike, just takes me ages. Now roll back to the cave to celebrate. This is a buff © 2016 The Experts ™ 2017 Last edited by torturo#7228 on Jun 4, 2014, 6:13:32 PM

The point is: getting somewhere with a 5L most assuredly doesn't take ages. You can get your character very high level in just two weeks of rather hardcore playtime.
Even with a 4L, there are some builds which do just fine. Generally speaking, you do want at least a 5L for endgame, but it falls just short of actually being required. Getting a 6L doesn't even guarantee you'll outperform some other build's 5L. All of the above is heavily supported by actual evidence. Your arguments are not backed by anything but your own personal opinions and biases. Mine are backed by actual performance. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. For everyone here: how build restricting is the lack of achievable 6Ls in the high end game?

" Some builds work with a 4L. Some 6L builds are still worse than other 5L builds. Cool story. But there's also some builds that want a 6L. Imagine you want to be the first person in the world to make use of the "curse on hit" gem in the main attack. Putting a curse and this gem in there would leave you with pitiful 1-2 damage support gems in a 4L or 5L. "Why you want to use CoH gem? You can also manually cast the curse!" That's not the point. If you want to make it work, you pretty much need a 6L, otherwise your damage will suck. Weird builds have weird demands. --- "Required" is a hard word, and you can argument that it is never true. Sure, i could play with 4k DpS, sure, I could switch my build to Searing Bond or some other "No Links needed" build. Sure, I could still play then. But maybe I don't want to swap builds and maybe I want to have some feeling of clearspeed to have fun in this game. --- " And your so-called "evidence" is? You just state opinions as everybody else. 3.5 build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2299519

" You showed a few guys that played a handful of builds in this race. They where limited in resources and time, which let them choose builds that are easy to play and gear. Now how to translate this to the actual game and all players/builds? This is no "evidence" or "proof" for anything. 3.5 build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2299519

Scrotie, though a lot of points we all bring in this thread are discussable, as there's no universal truth, there's no doubt you are completely wrong about BotW stuff. It's a really bad example. To compete in such intense races you have to be simple, efficient and gear independent.
These people know the game very well, they know what to expect, and most important - here they compete in short distances. In longer distances you won't see anyone of them working around 4l capable builds. This is a buff © 2016
