[OUTDATED] Zivko's WoE + BoR build - Seems like the build is dead

Can someone explain the difference between zivko's build and this build: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/996672

Which is more dps and which is more tanky? it seems like zivko is a bit more dps oriented and this other guy is going more tank?

edit:

btw, why does zivko's build require sovereignty? does that help with keeping cleave up?

The reason sovereignty is important is because after having all the required auras ran and the necessay reduced mana gem attached. You are left with only a bit of mana just enough to hit with cleave twice before mana regeneration and mana leech sucks enough mana for you to use again.

It is however that mana leech in this game unfortunately is not instataneous. You therefore need some extra mana pool to ensure that you can run cleave permanently.

These two builds are very similar to me actually. There is not much difference in strengths and weaknesses between these 2. One is slightly better at taking big hits while the other is slightly better at surviving multiple small hits.
There isn't too much difference between the two. I recommend looking at both trees and optimising around your own gear and preferences.

Sovereignty is required if you want to run 3 auras and still use mana for attacks (I don't recommend doing this).
For try, for see, and for know.

thanks that makes sense. doesn't seem worth it but...

I think the blood magic version can be heavily updated by using only mana. because now we know that cleave and conc effect is MUCH better than Dual strike and M. Splash and Blood Magic. With Cleave and conc effect, you have all 4 gems in BoR increasing dps heavily. Plus, without BM, you get added fire damage which gives another big boost. as for survivability you can just added life leech if you need it AND you would STILL have great dps.

but not sure how I would go about changing my build to add the mana regen nodes and sovereignty

thank you for that excellent explanation

Using Blood Magic / Acrobatics version and loving it. Nearly unstoppable, can kill almost all map bosses.
I am lvl 90 atm and do not want to level up much more. My current dam with Cleave is ~33k displayed with Hatred, Herald of Ash and Frenzy. Current Life: 5,2k
Playing Softcore only.

I have two skillpoints left. What should I go for if I aim for doing Atziri: more life or is life enough and I can go for more dam (axe)?
Options I currently see:
- 20% phys, 3% life (way to "Fell the Weak", if I go 92 I'd get another 32% phys and 7% life)
or
- 12% att speed (Duelist starting area)
or
- 10% life at life wheel

what do you think is more important?
Hi everyone,

I followed this build in Beyond league, and I have reached level 85 with it. I have to say I enjoyed playing a melee character very much.

Here is my current gear:

I am not running Blood Rage at the moment because I need to upgrade one of my rings and/or my gloves to get more chaos resistance.

My gem setup is a work in progress. At the moment I have both EC and IC with CwDT. I have a high level EC for individually casting prior to a fight. I also have a high level and a level 4 CwDT castable Blood Rage for when I'm feeling lazy.

I have not had too much trouble with any map or boss yet. You do have to be careful with enemies who do high physical damage single attacks like Brutus for example.

My skill try is exactly the same as the one for the BM higher survivability version of this guide. Since people now think Cleave and Conc. Effect are better options to Dual Strike and BM, has anyone tried switching? Can you get away with it just by taking the nodes to Sovereignty?

Cheers,

Seohce
As far as cleave vs. dual strike, can anyone explain to me why dual strike is even a thing? I mean, My dps is doubled by using cleave with conc. effect instead of dual strike, and the mana cost is virtually the same. If I use increased AOE instead, the dps is about the same, but the AOE size is way bigger (with cleave), so I don't see any benefit to dual strike whatsoever?

I'm currently running a similar build to this, and using abyssus + lightning coil - the dps is about 38k (using conc effect) with fairly average gear. I find it very effective as the abyssus is more DPS than BoR and the lightning coil covers the main weakness of the build, which is getting hit by a hard melee attack. The downside is it's hard to max your block.

I run Herald of Ash with prolif and hatred for auras.

Hi,

I logged back on last night and checked this topic. I see that quite a few of you hit well over 30k dps with cleave, so I'm wondering, could someone give me an advice on what equips to change to boost my dps? With hatred, purity of lightning and purity of fire, my stats are:

5.1k HP
73% / 70 % block
fire res 80 % (82%)
cold res 75% (77%)
lightning res 79 % (96%)
Cleave DPS 28k

Here is my equip:

The only things I can see are - more phys. dmg on rings, more quality on a couple of your gems, attack speed on your gloves, and ele dmg on your belt. Also, keep in mind not all of us are using the exact same build/gear choices. Abyssus + 6L chest is more dps, for example.
Replace LL gem with added fire. I cant say much before seeing your passives.
