Lol Ler i took your advice, and switched it. 4.5k cleave with auras, and 5086 with frenzy ;D

Now to invest into a quality cleave ;)

Nice to read, thanks, there are only very few melee-ranger-builds. I tried one and wasn't sure if it will work well...

I originally planned 2-hand but ended up with two rapiers because of the insame speed :) (only picked a few "swords"-skills at lvl 28 now, so I can switch 1H and 2H and I use mana and now move on to get more life-nodes)

It's fun and dual strike looks crazy with fast weapons, but... sometimes if I try my (bad blue) bow, I think it would be much easier to keep shooting. Multiple poison arrows deal lots of damage and it's quite safe from a distance.
(ok, this might change in higher difficulties)

Well, as long as your grabbing sword nodes instead of any 2handed nodes.

As far as end game, seems 45% are elemental bow spec, the other 45% are ice witches, then the rest are melee complaining about it. I enjoy melee, use to hate it though as they are most definitely gimped compared to ranged, however with decent gear they do just fine.

Hmm, didn't thought about endgame yet. Sounds hard as melee, but (by chance) my second Char is an ice witch ;) so if merciless is not possible, I'll stick to cruel, no problem, at last it's a fun-and-testing-build.

One question still: Why no increased armour?

We want IR, so we want armour... but the examples here don't include "steel skin".
In the lower left, next to berserking, there are 10+10+30% increased armour and the next node would be "10% reduced mana cost". These 4 points look appealing to me ;)

+armour% does NOT work on evasion changed to armour through iron reflexes

Don't get me wrong, melee can still do well just more gear dependent in my opinion. I do just fine now that I have got a few really good key pieces but melee still have it a little rougher considering they also soak the majority of the damage while ranged sit back.

A ranged with my equivalent in gear will probably do 1k-2k more dps than I do right now without tanking, but melee as I said is still very viable and not near as mind numbing.

Character created last night in HC, actually lvl 41.

I got not problem for the moment, DPS and tank is good.
1.6k HP, 1.1k dps dual strike, 460 cleave.

Look what i drop in a lvl 10 spot
:)

Are you sure? It's somewhat confusing, but what I've read: it does.

This is a year old, but afaik only "leather and steel" was changed to give only one bonus not twice.

(oh, and the wiki)

If you have high Dex, then there might be more benefit from +%Evasion but 30% Armour isn't a bad amount.

I am 100% sure it does NOT get double applied , I first made a build using this since I also checked the formula on the wiki, ended up not getting as much armour as planned so I pulled out the calculator , every single armour% node was ignored but all the evasion nodes did give me the bonus. ( was easy to test by activating and de-activating grace aura )

Then why use add fire if i drop WED? Should I find a replacement for it too?

Theorycrafting buddy ran me through it man
Only added fire damage is scaled by wed ie angers damage and whatever +fire you have inheriantly on your gear
As the added fire support converts physical all you need is beast phyaical damage and for our build it trumps out endgame by a large majority for that reason

Also thought I'd add guys as a rough idea on a nice endgame starting sword

Damage is up to about 5.5k cleaves with stacked frenzy at 61 so seems promising without sword talents really feel like with some gear as Ler said you dont need them till late end game
