I'm digging this build a lot now. I'm almost level 74 and just getting stronger every day. People say that the build is too squishy, which is sort of true, you can't take many hits. But you can pretty much freeze lock everything in front of you with ice spear and shotgun them with pulse if they get close.

Please, what do you think should be the #1 thing I need to upgrade on my gear? I know it's overall kind of weak.

This build looks incredibly squishy even for default league. You are right next to body and soul and nullification circles and take neither! Also, does projectile damage nodes even increase spells? I didnt know that, if so.

It does if the spells create projectiles, which FP and Ice Spear do

I use ice spear way more than FP. I kite a little bit and just freeze things in place. That's where most of my protection comes from and I only die if I'm on a hard map and it's lagging.

Hrm except for your amulet and the 2nd ring everything is equally bad :p I would probably try to get better rolls on the chest too.

I wonder if those lvls are right before a new tier of mana potions. Things can get pretty annoying when you're using lower lvl pots.

Both of those are ES circles, which means you need some decent ES gear to make them worth taking, which isn't always the case for people.

But in general, the build is low on defense, because it relies a lot on the player and rides the line of what is acceptable survivability. It's a tradeoff: you get better potential efficiency at the cost of having to pay more attention (as opposed to all those life stacking blood magic ranged builds that you can play one handed while drinking a beer).

Also because it isn't an HC build, it can crutch on gear more easily.

is this build made for end game aswell?

also are we all life an life regen with no energy shild? or am i missing something with this build bec at lvl 45 i have 45 mana shild... 1.4k life an 670 mana. witch runs out sooo fast.. any advice? or do i just keep following the build.. with the hopes of better gear:(

Loving the build, thanks so much for the in-depth guide. Starting a Hardcore one this weekend and just got him to 48. He's certainly a challenge early on, you really need to stack up on mana regen, which can take some searching and bartering for on the PoE Goods site.

Here's my gear so far, which I think is pretty good, but I just acquired or crafted all my pieces in the last few levels, so he's finally coming to form:


But I plan to be taking a very different path from the Witch Skill tree. Going to go for the curse passives on the top as it really appeals to me to have both enfeeble and frostbite going for hardcore. Not sure if it's going to work out, but I look forward to trying. Here's the 83 point tree I'm going for: http://goo.gl/GYlYU - if I make it further I'll be going into the Templar area, but I honestly do not expect to make it too far since this is my second character class I've ever played :P

Hey aimless i need some advice. Im in mists of buying a mirror to get a beastly 6L but im so confused what colors i want since it will be impossible to change. I know 3Blue,2 Green, but that last color is haunting me lol. I don't know if i should go green for mana leech/cold penetration or red for life leech. Boohoo ;(

Im trying to figure things out for the future, like if i have a mass amount of ES in near future and spec ghost reaver wouldn't i want life leech?

Up to 62 now, just entering the Templar area of the tree. I've been able to get all my resists 70+ in Merciless, which helps a lot, and the +Life is a great savior for that chaos damage that makes its way through my ES. The few times I've died have been because I took a risk or had rubber banding. I like it a lot.

The big problem I'm running into at the moment is Mana when using a 5L. I just got my 5L chest and am running Item Rarity at the moment (FP+fasterProj+FasterCast+LMP), because the added chaos damage just drains my mana pool almost instantly. I've only upped clarity to lvl 13, maybe I could up it more. My rings have regen but not a lot (11% ea) but my kris has a good regen roll. I guess I just need to trade up a lot on regen. With rarity running I can pretty much spam FP most of the time and never really worry about mana but the 150% added chaos dmg puts it over the top. I suppose this will improve in a half dozen levels since I will be hitting those +regen/mana and reduced cost nodes.

Other than my current mana issues, I really like the build!
