For reference, following my methods took me roughly 3 hours to get a rod drop. Varanice followed my methods and got one in standard within a few hours, and another in domination by the next day, similar deal with arpgfan. It's not instant though, there is nothing you can do (afaik) to completely guarantee that it will drop.

It was a unique from a coward's trail map, so my guess is no because he wouldn't have needed to. Coward's Trail ignores requirements for uniques to drop.

Yes i didn't wear tricorne hat just played solo "cowards trail" map and it dropped from last necro boss.

Kind of a total contradiction you got yourself there bro. If it was really a troll item, it would be worth nothing like the rest of the troll items in this game (crown of thorns much?) it's not, because it's not a troll. It's legit, and SotS the ONLY item in the game that lets you catch exotic fish.

Is it possible that i am running my circles in the wrong direction? I'm always doing it clockwise because my logic tells me that running counter-clockwise would only make the time until i find the rod get longer and longer but maybe my aforementioned possible lack of common sense got me fooled here?
Please help me, i don't want to screw it up just by running in the wrong direction but i'm afraid that by just trying my luck with running counter-clockwise (which actually doesn't make any sense!) i could make things much, much worse...
Really, i need help and i need it very fast, my neighbours already threatened to call the cops if i don't stop chanting in the middle of the night(*)... :/
(*) Obviously chanting during daytime wouldn't work because magic never works when there is daylight involved! (I probably don't have to mention that but on the other hand the fact that fishes exist shouldn't have to be mentioned either and still there are people who doubt their existance...)
