[0.10.4b] Bow Marauder (The Shocker (tm)) [**TO BE UPDATED SOON 1.0.0**]
" everything is from cruel. but the last ring will be from Merciless Act2 Great White Beast quest. wished they had a list out of exact recipe changes :( and it kind sucks because it ruins the currency econ :( Last edited by Pi314#5955 on Mar 6, 2013, 12:47:53 PM

" It fixes the currency econ, actually. People were farming things in a way which was not originally intended, and this puts a stop to that. No more insta-chaos orbs. Life is tough... but it is tougher if you're stupid.

How does this build compare to light arrow ranger utilizing the same keystones?
I forget the source but the ranger variant is almost identical: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgIBAnEEswUtCC4MfQ48Dq0QfxQgFE0UcRjbGS4ZhRmOGjgdFCFgJKon7Si1KU8ppTIJMok1kjbpOlJAoEGqQ5xKfU7IUEdQUFRJVcZWBFb6V-JYY1nzW69fP2BLYIhhUmOnZp5noGe9cql07XTxd-V673zZgpuGYId2jM-PRpBVm42boZ65n8uiAKcIpzCnhKyqr-u4k7ndwBrGnsbYz2XQ0NN-1I_dDd1G37_jaudS7Djtg-4O7m_vDu9O8B_yL_Pd9kj3Mvjr-tL8TvzF however, what are the advantages of and disadvantages of both? From solely a aesthetic standpoint i would much prefer to be shooting arrows with a ranger than a bulky marauder. Also, does have +evasion nodes effectively boost armor if you have the iron reflexes passive? IGN: Arlianth

This looks like a great, survivable build. I'm excited because going with something along these lines may provide livability even for those who experience a bit of lag, like me.
Though I have one question, why do you choose the Elemental Adaption node early on instead of Diamond Skin, is there a difference between specifically allocating the elemental defenses rather than just building elemental resistance in general? |
|
" Generally speaking you want to have all the elemental resistances maxed out at all times. It is as simple as that. You can get away with juggling resistances in early game modes (Normal, Cruel - for example if you are farming Ledge, focus on getting maxed out Lightning so as to smash Kuduku easier), but when you reach Act 3 Cruel, forget it, that won't work anymore. Also bear in mind that passing through Act 3 is much smoother if you wear one Chaos Resistance flask. Now a more specific answer to your question would be - when you just start out the character, do take Diamond Skin, both that one and the south one between US and IR. As you get into late game, you should aim to get as good gear as possible, so that you could save those points and take something else instead (more HP). On another note; as you progress through the game and build up your character, you might find yourself in situations where you lack a certain resistance to max it out. In that case, feel free to grab one of the extra resistance nodes in Marauder starting tree - you will respec out of it later. Take the passive tree, bend it over and make it your slave. That's when you start winning the game - when you take that kind of approach. Life is tough... but it is tougher if you're stupid.

" Well, as a comparison, you might as well say that endgame wise, they are identical (except for the aesthetic part). Early game, both have certain advantages of their own, however Marauder makes for an easier early game IMO, and has more HP nodes available sooner, as well as some crucial keystones, such as Blood Magic, Resolute Technique, Static Blows, Diamond Skin... As for Iron Reflexes, read this thread. Life is tough... but it is tougher if you're stupid. Last edited by VenatorPoE#1855 on Mar 6, 2013, 6:58:58 PM

" Thank you for the quick reply. It looks like the best option is to go full pure EVA armor because of 5 dex = 1% more evasion where as ARMOR gear does not benefit from any attribute and no armor nodes are taken in either variant of the build. Closer inspection shows the main difference is the 4 evasion nodes at the ranger's starting point: 18, 10, 10, 10 vs what you could spend it on as a marauder - likely 8% life nodes. I guess it comes down to 48% evasion or about 40% more life though the marauder has the option to choose which ever path whereas the ranger is forced to choose the 4 evasion nodes. Would this little tid bit push marauder over ranger as optimal class for this build ? IGN: Arlianth

No, because you can optimize around that and pick up the attack speed and projectile damage nodes, before connecting to the "main tree". You "lose" a couple of points, but it balances out in the end. Marauder is the only starting point for this specific build which does not waste a single point, IMO.

Hellow Guys, I want to know if it is a good idea that I click out the Fending to knock back the enemies.Because I think 15% of knock back with LMP+Chain can protect me well.

Venator! I realize why I got confused as all hell with Iron Grip now. It was this statement in the guide in the Iron Grip Spoiler:
" To me, this sounds like you're talking about Lightning Arrow and how it only affects the damage left after conversion. Maybe clarify this with a more in-depth example? IGN: Troheim
