[0.10.4b] Bow Marauder (The Shocker (tm)) [**TO BE UPDATED SOON 1.0.0**]

The amount of smart people involved in this thread really makes me happy.

Respect to you, guys!

On topic, I will just repeat myself and be boring: this whole build is meant to be a template to help people interested in Bow Maras customize their own builds the best way suited to them.

Except when people waste points on stuff like Iron Grip. I just can't support that... Haha

I will say that I originally was going to go the physical damage route instead of the elemental damage route and I included Iron Grip in that setup, until I actually looked at the math behind it and was appalled at how terrible of a choice it actually was. :)
Interesting build, how good is this build compared to an elemental bow ranger?
yeah, i didn't notice you had the shock point put in there so that can be moved to elemental adaption.

And its not so much that attack speed matters more, its just that whenever you have two numbers that effectively multiply each other (in this case damage and attacks/second), balancing the multipliers will give you the best result because the effect of raising the "lower" multiplier are multiplied by the bigger multiplier.

IE if you have two numbers that get multiplied, and the both start at "1", and you can distribute 4 "points" between them, your maximum occurs at 3*3, not 5*1.

Its a little more complicated in the case we have because the multipliers are on different magnitudes for the most part (IE +250% damage vs +20% attack speed), so you compare the % increase in either multiplier, and just think of that as a third multiplier that you want to maximize.

IE
if you have A*B, a 10% increase in A is equivalent to a 10% increase in B no matter what because (1.1*A)*B=A*(1.1*B). So while 25% more projectile damage sounds like a lot, since we already are operating at 350%+ projectile damage, its closer to an 7% total increase, and while a 12% increase in attack speed sounds small, since we are only operating at 130%, its like a 9% increase over all. This actually comes out pretty close, but shows the general idea.

The really tricky part with this system is making sure you actually catch all the different multipliers that sum together for stuff like damage (as example, when I forgot the global 0.5 multiplier on quill rain), and making sure you apply them properly, which is why I posted that for someone to look over :p

[edit] as for comparison to ranger... really depends on how the ranger is built. I mean end game, as I was discussing with how to finish off my tree, I can come within 1 or two nodes of the ranger starting area, so practically identical :p. If you do a crit based ranger its a completely different build. To be honest, when I was planning my build a day or two before Beta started, I was looking at crit based LA ranger, but I had no closed beta experience and someone told me that he crit based build has a tendency to one shot itself to offscreen reflect enemies, so I switched to a tankier mara build and wound up coming fairly close to this build independently, then just kinda joined the thread. Now that I ahve experience I do kinda wonder if crit based would be better, because I find reflect mobs arent really that hard with LoH... but since this is my only higher level char, and it has RT, I still have no idea what kind of dedication accuracy requires on a crit based build, so I don't know how much you need to give up for that in addition to getting crit nodes

O, and I know it is mostly a physical bow, but as long as we spent some time looking at other bow choices... how exactly does Death Harp work? I havent seen one in action... does the "extra arrow" kinda go off to the side and cause me to shoot in a V, or is it right in line with the main arrow?

Im sure its still worse (at least without switching to a full physical build), but as we were discussing, IAS is our lower multiplier, so anything that can even artificially increase that is going to have a big effect
your thougts about this bow??

do i need to rerol stats with chaos to make all 3 elements on it?

Never tried an elemental conversion build? Iron grip with LA + Blackgleam + Massive damage phys bow is incredibly powerful due to double dipping.
is there an alternative for faster attacks? i have a 6 link but almost impossible to roll 4 agi/ 2 str roll. i have a 3agi/2str/1int roll on it atm, would added lightning dmg be viable?

3 green, 2 red, 1 blue.

LA, Chain, LMP
WED, LoH
Increased AoE/Elemental Proliferation (EP favoured!)

That's the best I can immediately think of.
