The average player ...

The question the is, WHO is the average player? Or maybe.. the median player. Does he or she even trade? Is he or she so put off by the current system that they are ALREADY depending on RNG?

Coz that's me. My first trade was yesterday, finally found 1 item (not godly) that improves my char without costing me an exalt (for which I have only 1). AND, that the seller happen to be online and responsive.

p.s even if poe.xyz shows a seller is online, they may not be.

Hint there already is a reg AH and a real money AH in poe.

heh real money AH in poe? what are you talking about - let alone "hint"?

If you mean RMT sites - of course any game worth it's salt gets targetted by RMT sites, but most of us dont use RMT sites anyway.

The largest issue that destroyed D3 was BAD game design. If D3 had variety of builds, proper skilltree, build-enabling uniques, beter itemization and usable currency, AH alone would never destroyed it.
AH isnt a flaw by itself, it just exposes other flaws quickly.

The new trading changes aren't in the March 1.1.0 patch - there are two reasons:
a) We're keen to deploy them as soon as they're ready. There's no real need to wait for the next four-monthly patch.
b) The new trading stuff is not ready yet. It's a major system overhaul and we're still working on it. I'm really sorry about the delay.

As for how it works, the current plan is a combination of public stash tabs (to make it easier to find items) and separately, an asynchronous cross-instance-website trading system. You can basically trade (without buyouts) across the game and website. The trades and offers are still there when you log in later, so it's possible to trade with offline people or people who aren't in your game area or are on their phone or work PC.

Sounds completely lack luster considering the time everybody has waited.

Still needs to coordinate time between buyer and seller.
Still no mention of any search features for public or regular stash.

Not supporting a buyout option diminishes the positive aspect of this major change. It's like ALMOST getting it right (web site and offline trading), and then fumbling it right before the finish.

I understand the concerns with a buyout option, but I feel that it's one of those "about the principle" decisions that are inefficient and only inconvenience a large portion of the player base.

Bots buying stuff is of little practical impact and no different for me than an unemployed or young player (or anyone with heaps of time) refreshing the site every five minutes, all day, every day. In either case, the result is the same: unrealistically low priced items with BO will sell almost instantly.

From my perspective, lack of BO needlessly slows down offline trading without any tangible benefit for anyone.
poexyz will be the no1 source of items, even after those "big changes"

easy, fast and with buyouts.

"wtb your XXX listed for XXX Orbs"
"A1n"
"T4t"

Fin.

Edit: Those big changes will make shopping on poexyz even faster.

still gotta go to a website, not rleated to GGG to find items and buy fast.
Dran, drauf, drüber !

Is it me or is he saying two distinctly different things?

A. We want to start the new trade system ASAP before even March.
B. We're nowhere near ready, and can't be completed in time for March.

Huh?

He is saying "we want to release it when it's done, independent of any regular patches or league resets."

It sounds like he wants it to be ready sooner than March, but doesn't know if things will pan out that way. It's realistic.

I still think not supporting BO is a bit of a shame, but it would only require a small change later on if they change their mind, so this is still good.
